If it has to be hammered apart...I don’t think it’s meant to be open?? lol
jsummer14 [OP] 9 points 3y ago
oh ya definitely not lol we just had to get to the bottom of it and took the lid as casualty..OPs must’ve been cracked or something
doe_skin 5 points 3y ago
If it was cracked, it would make sense it’s not an airtight seal & mold could get in. That would make a lot of sense & relieve a lot of baristas lol

Ahhh I see, I was pretty concerned to why it looked like that too but just took my manager’s word that it was mold
jsummer14 [OP] 7 points 3y ago
yeah it prob was some kind of health hazard at that point but i’m thinking all those little eggy looking things were the broken down styrofoam balls..so still moldy but LESS moldy lol and broken for sure

It’s filled with foam beads that absorb condensation.

That must be ancient.

What am I looking at exactly?
jsummer14 [OP] 2 points 3y ago
go down a few posts and look for the one titled MOLDY CARAFES lol
usagi18 1 points 3y ago
ohhhh ok I just saw it and figured it was related! so is the Styrofoam supposed to be in there or what bc I still feel grossed out but now I'm not sure I even understand what the lid is SUPPOSED to have in it !
jsummer14 [OP] 4 points 3y ago
yeah the styrofoam is supposed to be in there, i think it’s just works as an insulator. The covers aren’t actually supposed to open, if they do they’re broken and that’s where the gross stuff seeps in. If they open check it out and make sure they’re ok. But If they’re like sealed shut and u have to pry it, you should be in the clear! phewwww
