green bean in love with the job (self.starbucksbaristas)

i was reluctant to apply to starbucks. i knew a few people who work or had worked there and from most of them, i only heard horror stories of managers and customers. however, desperate for a job with hours, i applied and ended up getting the job.

i have worked at starbucks for about three weeks now and i can’t believe how much i love it. i’ve never posted on reddit before, but i love my job so much i can’t seem to shut up about it (hence posting this.)

i have worked 5-6 jobs over the last three years, leaving all of them because of demonic bosses, lack of hours, or both. i am so grateful to have gotten hired here. never in my life have i felt so appreciated, cared for, and loved by my coworkers and managers. maybe this post is pretty pointless, but i just wanted to let you guys know how much positivity working at starbucks has brought to my life!

Finding a job that's not only tolerable but *enjoyable* as well is SUCH a treasure

Just to add support to how Starbucks CAN be a good job if you know grass isn’t greener on the other side;

I myself worked at Starbucks and enjoyed the tips at 19 I recently turned 24, I then went into serving and then ended up back at Starbucks when my boss made me dislike my job. I then missed the tips of serving and went back into serving and opened a couple restaurants as a waiter. But here’s the kicker, I just interviewed today for a barista position at a coffee shop that opens soon.
Why? Well because out of the jobs I have had, sales, personal trainer(still sales), overnight stocking, bag boy, and waiter, I have only ever enjoyed one job. And that was working with coffee. And also imho it’s better with full time school.

Starbucks was where I had some of the most supportive managers, and made some great connections.

TLDR; I went from Starbucks to serving back to Starbucks then back to serving and now I’m going back to being a barista. Because it’s the best job imo with school.

I feel the same way, I’m a month and a week in and it’s the best job I’ve ever had. My team, SSVs, and SM are all so amazing and I love them to death. I’m gonna be so sad when I have to transfer for college, but I’m for sure going to come in and work while home on breaks to see them all
