Why do college kids not going to ASU work at Starbucks when it will pay for you to go to college? (self.starbucksbaristas)

I wanted the traditional college experience and don’t enjoy the format of online classes.
jchbegg 14 points 3y ago
ASU degrees through sbux are done online, so not all majors desired are available.
METAXILLUS -1 points 3y ago
They offer 350 different majors though.
heytherehoe 6 points 3y ago
there are not 350 majors available online.
METAXILLUS 3 points 3y ago
My bad it’s 200+

I can’t take dance classes online and I hated ASU’s dance program when I visited it. No thanks homie.

I have absolutely no idea. I graduated college for free from SCAP, meanwhile coworkers were in major debt. Only case I understand is when their degree isn’t offered on ASU Online
crzyshiba 5 points 3y ago
I want to do that but I hardly get 20 hrs
METAXILLUS 4 points 3y ago
What the fuck.

If you aren’t getting benefits then what’s the point.
ilovebrandonj 3 points 3y ago
Talk to your SM about it
crzyshiba 4 points 3y ago
I actually requested a transfer to another store cause i am only getting 4 hrs a week apparently our store is over staffed and it’s been like that for 4 weeks
baengali 4 points 3y ago
i don’t think my grades will be that good doing online classes lol
METAXILLUS 2 points 3y ago
That’s fair. It’s good to be honest with yourself but don’t self depreciate.
baengali 3 points 3y ago
lol i actually applied for it though earlier. can i transfer credits to asu?
ilovebrandonj 3 points 3y ago
Yep! I transferred 30.
baengali 3 points 3y ago
i’ll look into cuz asu is a great institution. would love a degree from there
13littlemissvixen 3 points 3y ago
The remaining classes that I need to complete my degree are not offered or compatible 🤷‍♀️
METAXILLUS 1 points 3y ago
Is that what the advisor told you?

That’s oddly specific.
13littlemissvixen 2 points 3y ago
Im a hospitality management major, all remaining classes are higher division core classes
METAXILLUS 2 points 3y ago
Kinda ironic that you can’t do that through Starbucks lol.
yinelisse_ 3 points 3y ago
I wanted to do it but I'm currently doing nursing and we gotta do practice classes @ the nursing program😭
METAXILLUS 0 points 3y ago
I wouldn’t get a nursing degree from an online college anyways.
manic_human 2 points 3y ago
Some people just can’t do online school
METAXILLUS 1 points 3y ago
Yeah I understand that.

Personally? I have enough benefits (foster kid, veteran's affairs, NYC resident attending CUNY) that it makes no sense for me to not attend in person classes. I'm planning on pursuing a certification to teach english at a high school level, and I need a standard classroom setting because of my autism.
METAXILLUS 1 points 3y ago
That’s totally fair!

This was more directed at college *kids*

But it makes me happy to hear from veterans in this group.

I really hope you guys can promote disciplined environments.
kiervince 2 points 3y ago
Oh my gosh, no I'm only 19! My biological father is a deceased veteran, I should have specified.
METAXILLUS 2 points 3y ago
Well then my apologies lol.

Don’t set impossible standards ;)
TylerTheBox 1 points 3y ago
Can’t you do like 2-4 yrs at ASU then finish it at a real college?
heytherehoe 1 points 3y ago
it’s more like 60+
