What to say when customers order iced coffee with syrup?(self.starbucksbaristas)

Green bean here! Normally if someone orders an iced coffee, I ask if they want that sweetened or unsweetened, because people don’t always know that the default has classic syrup. However, when people order, for example, a hazelnut iced coffee, do I bother asking if they want classic as well? Most of the time when I ask they get confused. Should I just assume flavored iced coffee comes with/without classic?

I wouldn’t ask, customers usually don’t know what classic is and it confuses them. Stick to sweetened/unsweetened if they don’t specify a flavor they want

Thank you - and if they do specify a flavor, would you put no classic or just put the classic as well as the flavor?

Either put no classic or sub for the flavor on the sticker. So just the pumps of vanilla for example and no classic.

im always just like “okay so along with the flavor do you still want to keep the classic sweetener syrup that comes by default in the iced coffee”

I always asked and took the time to explain that adding hazelnut would be in addition to classic. If they wanted to try it without classic and then have me put some in if it wasn’t sweet enough I always did

I have started to just say no classic if they tell me vanilla or whatever but now I feel like I should be clarifying.

I usually still always ask because without the classic it’s just flavor and not that much sweetness comparatively When customers don’t know what I mean by classic syrup I just say it’s our sugar syrup we use to make it sweeter

I disagree. All of our syrups have quite a bit of sugar and sweetness to them.
