A question for all shift supervisors / baristas... (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by thecuriouslittleben
How do you know when peak is over?

I just got promoted to SSV and begin my training in 2 weeks. Can you please send me the info as well? I’ve been with Starbucks for a month as a barista so any additional info I can learn rn would be awesome!

Typically at my store you can tell because drinks become more spread out. Typically our Peak is between 7:30-10a and after that it just kinda dies off, the last hour being the slowdown.

If you want, you can ask for your shift (or if you are one, you can do this yourself) to run the hourly shift report, and it’ll show you the customers per half hour for the day, times where you have 15+ customers per half hour in the morning is typically considered peak. Of course numbers may vary depending on store location, age and a bunch of other minute details.

Good luck!

Thanks! So let's say your dm asks you that question would that be the right answer? Like the Starbucks answer to the question?

Oooo! Fun! Ok so the “Siren Says” answer is “Peak ends when the number of customers per half hour falls below (enter amount here, for me it’s 15) and our post-peak tasks such as cleaning floors, running trash, and doing dishes can be completed.” A more customer friendly version would be the same as the first part but add in “and most importantly, our customers have enjoyed the third space before heading out to their day”

Are you vying for a shift or ASM position? If so I may be able to share some stuff with you to help out :)
