So, I'm a month and a half old green bean. Been doing espresso for over 10 years now, but this job at Sbux is the first time I've worked in a year due to illness.
Last Friday was my 9th day in a row and I was actually handling really well - up until after my last break, that is.
I was in the window, and suddenly lost ALL brain functionality. After asking about 3 customers to please repeat their orders about 3 times EACH, I decided to do what I thought was the most responsible thing, and asked my manager if I could switch stations with someone else because I wasn't functioning at anywhere near my best.
She was totally understanding, but tild me to ask the shift if it was ok with her as well, which it was.
But since it was way slower than usual, they chose to do me one better - my manager let me go in the back to work on my online training for the remainder of my shift! (They thru me on the floor right away because of my experience and I had been either covering shifts/staying hours late and/or been given OT pretty much every week since I started so there hasn't been much opportunity at all for me to finish til now)
Anyway, I'm just thankful that everyone was so understanding and accommodating. It's been a long time since a work place has cared AT ALL about my mental health and well being :) :)
