starbucks piercing policy (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by giannatutrone
I read on the website that they only allow 2 piercings per ear and only studs in nostrils .... how strict is it for the most part? on my right ear i have 6 (3 lobes , conch , industrial) and on my left ear i have 5 ( 3 lobes, helix and tragus) i also have two nostril piercings . If i switch out my jewelry for clear retainers and put studs in my nose do y’all think i’ll be fine ? should i do this for the interview as well? i know it usually depends on the manager but i’m curious what piercings you have and if it was a problem.

i know for the first bit of me being there i followed all piercing rules, but i quickly realized our store is very relaxed on the policy so i wear my double nostril ring and all my ear piercings each day. i only take out my nose ring when higher ups and eco sure comes in!

It really depends on your manager my manager does not allow us to wear more than 2 and he makes the girls take them all out

It really depends. My manager doesn’t care about nose rings or septums. I don’t think the DM cares either tbh.

i’m a 4 year supervisor. i have two nostrils, stretched septum, two on my upper left cartilage, industrial on my right, and my lobes are stretched to 1/2 inch.

i take one nostril out, flip my septum up, and wear simple/tasteful studs and bar in my ears. septums are a no go, and tbh if i see a septum ring down at another store it tells me a lot about the store itself. it’s a big no-no to area and district managers so if a ssv or sm let it slide or if a barista can’t follow that one lil rule i’m like... yikes... okay. no hoops in your nostril, only one stud on one side- gotta take out the second. my area is lax on earrings because they aren’t usually customer “facing” and are much more socially accepted in a corporate and professional environment. i will say that when one of my nostrils got snagged/effed up i wore a clear retainer in it to heal and my manager was more than okay with it. retainers may be a great way to go for your interview and working!

okay thank you! i don’t have a septum so luckily i don’t have to worry about that, just one nostril on each side . do you have any problems with taking it out and it healing closed ? i have had my piercings for a good 2 1/2 years so i’m sure they won’t but i’m always afraid of having them out and closing up .

i’ve had my left for maybe 9 years so it doesn’t, i’ve gone almost a week with it out and it’s snug but always goes right back. the right side is fresher so i choose to leave that one in for work. i just keep a little zippy in my bag to keep my piercing in and put it back after i clock out. also pro tip: if i don’t take it out while i’m doing my makeup/getting ready i w i l l forget. it’s a good habit to create!

There was a girl with six piercings in one ear and four in the other at my old, stricter store and no one said anything to her.

for ears it’s rarely enforced where i’m from, but your SM and DM may be more strict on it. I have 3 piercings on each ear and never got in trouble, but they are small. the retainers should make it totally fine! for the interview I wouldn’t worry too much about it, but when they ask if you have questions just bring this up!
