Burnt my hand a grand total of three times on the oven and SM still says we cannot wear an oven mitt. What should I do? (self.starbucksbaristas)

You just gotta be more careful. Never in any of the locations around me have I heard this being a consistent issue, and no location has oven mitts. I seriously doubt they would allow an oven mitt to be used, because no way is the SM going to take it home and wash it every night. All you can do is be more careful, use the tongs. Your hands shouldn’t be nearly close enough to the oven to burn your hand.

You’d think that but these ovens are kinda different compared to my first store’s. The opening is a little smaller in height and it’s not one of the ovens I usually see at other stores.

That shouldn’t make you burn yourself. The tongs should be plenty long enough to leave several inches between the oven and your hand.

I’m not saying you are, I’m saying this is just a matter of you not being careful enough. Even if it’s busy, you still have to slow down enough to make sure you’re not burning yourself. Your SM is not going to do anything about this, unless a large amount of your coworkers are also burning themselves.

I have never heard of an oven mitt for warming nor have I ever consistently burned my hand. Even during peak.

Don’t get put on warming during any busy times and when you are be more careful. Get more dexterity with the tongs. It’s hard at first.
