When I predict a customer’s order (i.redd.it)

I usually predict based on this information I've gathered:

Typical Karens like caramel macchiato, vanilla lattes, PSLs, and peppermint mochas.
Older men like brewed coffee, usually black.
Indians like extra hot lattes or chai tea lattes.
Teenage girls like refreshers, especially pink drinks.
Asians like espresso shots and a cup of ice, anything matcha, and americanos.
Kids like cake pops, double chocolate chip fraps w/ wm, vanilla bean fraps, and hot chocolate.
Middle schoolers like those weird blended refresher combinations that they see on tik tok.

These are heuristics that we use as a short cut to figure out what someone wants. It's human nature. As long as we don't automatically start ringing up these people for drinks they didn't ask for or treat them badly for preferring certain things, it's not really that bad. We just know our customers.

Something caramel, with almond or oat milk.

Y’all got oat milk?? I get asked about it all the time but we don’t have it
gone_gay 1 points 3y ago
We barely have soy at my store

Me when I predict a customer’s name. Also. Careful how you profile your customers you filthy animals

Literally I feel so racist and sexist sometimes but like... people walk up and I often know what category to head to. Older man? Brewed or iced coffee. Kids, it's always a toss between blended and other (refreshers). Middle aged ladies? Espresso.

>Kids, it’s always a toss between blended and other (refreshers). Middle ages ladies? Espresso.

The kids get the drinks that are sweeter, less caffeinated, and/or don’t taste much of coffee or tea. That really isn’t much of a surprise; especially when you give it such a broad range of options. “Espresso” also covers half the drinks on our menu. I really wouldn’t quality it as stereotyping if your guesses are this broad and nonspecific. There’s also nothing about race involved in your post, so I fail to see how it’s racist, but maybe you just left those assumptions out.

Well I only have one race assumption and it makes me feel bad but I swear to god, middle aged Asian men and women who are professional looking usually get hot americanos.
battleon99 1 points 3y ago
Is that supposed to be the race assumption? Because that isn’t a race...

I edited it because I forgot the word Asian.

I feel like shit and I know we had training or whatever for this but I’ve always had premonitions about orders based on what they look like

I worked in a gelato shop. The white girls would always get coffee, tiramisu, salted caramel, or mint chip. Asian customers would get fruit flavors and yogurt. And black customers would often scoff weird flavors and get vanilla or chocolate lol.
