RUBBER MATS?! (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by mk6yettatdi
Howdy partners. i need to know your ways to really clean the mats that go in the kitchen. they freak me out and everyone at my store just sprays them with bleach and pretends they’re clean. i’ve tried putting them in the mop sink and spraying them but it’s too small for the giant mat. i can’t be the only one who wants them to actually get cleaned.

Our SM ended up taking ours to a self car wash. Never saw them look cleaner!

THIS IS THE ANSWER I WAS LOOKING FOR

Take them outside, spray and deck brush them, and hose them off. Thats what my ssv did last week
mango_drango 4 points 3y ago
Y’all got a hose?
chaxsthexries 2 points 3y ago
I wanna be shocked back and say "yall dont?" but were talking about starbucks

I mean I guess I shouldn’t be that surprised because my store is downtown and there is absolutely no place for a hose to even be and if we took our mats outside they’d have to go in the literal street.

our SM finally took ours away and threw then out because no one was cleaning them properly lol

i asked my sm why we even have them and how it would be so much more sanitary if we didn’t have them and he told me it was for “safety purposes” because it “prevents partners from slipping” when i think we should just wear non slip shoes and get rid of those god awful mats.

They are also for support, any partner with chronic pain will tell you they make a big difference.

exactly. try half an hour on bar without a mat and you'll know

We stick em in the mop sink, curled to a upside down U shape. And we have a scrubby brush, kinda like a huge toothbrush. Spray them with the floor cleaning water and scrub at the same time. It kinda works..

We spray them with bleach and then use this broom thing to scrub the bleach on there and then we mop them and they usually turn out pretty clean.

We have a power washer and it works so well with getting them clean, but we only do that on clean play nights. Every other night I just throw one in the mop sink and hose it down and scrub any part that needs to be scrubbed. That way theyre still getting somewhat clean in between clean plays.

We take our in the parking lot, spray with restroom cleaner, deck brush, and then a few pitchers of hot water to rinse off.

I take them into the back during clean play and douse them with hot water, let it soak a bit, then deck brush them. They don't have to be perfect if you do them every week. A bigger issue is making sure that the daily floor mopping is being done properly, by which I mean using mop water and head that are clean and not just pushing dirt around. If the rest of the floor care is being done correctly the mats don't get that gross.
