I love this. I’ve been thinking seriously about organizing in my area too. It’s such a daunting task tho & I have no experience, but this is a good push

If the organizers are already getting write-ups, I'm sure corporate will make sure they're separated before the unionization is complete.

We have to do something though, otherwise things will stay the same or get worse. Even if we aren't able to form a union at least corporate will see that many of us are unsatisfied with the direction that the company is going.

I’m no longer a partner but I applaud you all for standing up. Someone has to.

Asking sincerely because I only just started a few months ago, what direction is the company going that is unsatisfactory?

I’d say it’s mostly just 2/3 things (1 and 2 go hand in hand)

1. Asking too much of minimum wage workers
Ie I don’t get paid enough to do everything I do, and I can say the same for my managers. This leads to 60%+ turnover of employees, which equals more time/money spent training and hiring them.

2. Too customer focused. The needs of the employees are swept under the rug so that the customer has “the best possible experience”. It’s a coffee shop. Not Disney world.

3. Waste. I hate that we don’t recycle and most stores don’t donate “expired” food. We have a massive opportunity to bring in more customers if we offer greener/charitable solutions yet we don’t... I can honestly say that is on corporate.

If these 3 problems were solved, it would be a better company. If you’re starting a company, please make sure you
1. Ask reasonable things of your employees in consideration of their pay grade
2. Don’t go overboard with customer service
3. RECYCLE and be CHARITABLE/DONATE!!!

PS- there’s a bread place that’s popular and I eat there a ton just because of all the work they do for charity, and I’ve personally seen them bag bread to bring to shelters. It’s amazing and they get more money from me.
