What questions do you have? It’s almost exactly the same as it was before just all on one page with a couple minor changes.
[deleted] [OP]26 points3y ago
It does r have the types of shirts we can wear, the don’t really say what pant materials are allowed and it’s just a very vague description of everything.
saddestgirl199540 points3y ago
Asked my manager today, she said that we can wear T shirts now when we reviewed the new dress code
NOTcreative-39 points3y ago
This is correct, which is why they don’t limit the types of shirts. Just in color pallet and no exposed midsection, shoulders, or armpits. There’s a more in detail guideline if you search dress code guideline on partner hub.
DraconidZinnia1 points3y ago
WE CAN WEAR T-SHIRTS NOW???
Alicat-and-Quasar39 points3y ago
Vague is way better than specific, at least to me. There's more leeway when it's more vague. Just follow the color pallete and don't wear work out gear.
Gingersnap532264 points3y ago
*slowly covers my 50 million pins*
peroporquee2 points3y ago
Literally me lmao
cody_184953 points3y ago
So we can wear just plain t-shirts now?
mango_drango16 points3y ago
Yep
TylerTheBox13 points3y ago
Finally! Don’t have to change into a collared shirt after school any longer.
DraconidZinnia1 points3y ago
OMG YAYAYAY I bought a plain black t-shirt a bit ago and now I can wear it to work in my SWEATY HOT STORE!!!!!!!! WOO!
NotSailorVenus51 points3y ago
When did this go into effect? I’ve wanted a facial piercing for so long!!
mango_drango32 points3y ago
Literally today lmao
g1ngertim24 points3y ago
It came out today. It goes into effect on 1/7 or something around there.
Slightly_Caffeinated33 points3y ago
**Welcome to another edition of Québec wants to be different
Alohomora42033 points3y ago
Does this mean I can get a lip piercing now ??
mango_drango13 points3y ago
Yep
rosesarebloomin23 points3y ago
I'm so ready to flip my septum down but I'm also not ready for the cow and "but you look so much prettier without it" comments that come the first few days since I live in a pretty conservative area.
rosallia14 points3y ago
"Thank you for your generous input, but I love dressing myself for me and my own expression "
DraconidZinnia1 points3y ago
That's an awesome response, I'm gonna use that if I get comments when I decide what facial piercing I want uwu'
brianamals6 points3y ago
At my old fabric store job this older lady asked why I had it. So I told her I just needed attention and thanked her for giving it to me.
oatmilkfanacct18 points3y ago
Can we still wear patterns or just the solid colors? Flannels are my main work wardrobe atm
krispykreme234512 points3y ago
Subtle patterns and flannels that are within the color palette are okay. Pants can no longer have patterns. Basically they don’t want attention drawn away from the apron.
NOTcreative-6 points3y ago
As long as in the color pallet just as before.
cs_phoenix0 points3y ago
? IIRC flannel wasn’t part of the old dress code..
CarelessKai18 points3y ago
wait so are we not allowed to wear our own pins now?
electric__shepherd31 points3y ago
We weren't really before but it's sooo vague that it's not gonna stop me, or my manager who doesn't care about that kind of thing
electric__shepherd18 points3y ago
this was the previous code about pins btw:
Securely fastened buttons or pins **issued by Starbucks** (for special recognition, or a promotion) are welcome where permitted by law. You are not permitted to wear buttons or pins that advocate a political, religious or personal issue. Pins may not interfere with safety, threaten to harm customer relations or otherwise unreasonably interfere with Starbucks public image. For food-safety purposes, all pins must be securely fastened at all times.
NOTcreative-10 points3y ago
It’s about the exact same but the new guideline also says one pin representing a labor organization of the baristas choice. Which doesn’t make sense to me because why would we wear a carpenters union pin? I’m assuming they meant something else and it’ll get updated to charitable organization or something. There is also a stipulation about manager discretion as well.
cbrookman7 points3y ago
It’s mostly to cover their ass. If they say we can’t wear a union pin, they’ll get flak for being anti-union. They have to at least appear to be okay with organizing.
CarelessKai9 points3y ago
yeah at my store we’re allowed two of our own pins (that fit that guideline) and two starbucks pins
Panshu_X_Pop-Tarts9 points3y ago
If you're in Quebec(Canada) you're not permitted at all, but I think it depends of your SM ^-^

iamnumber4715 points3y ago
Is this on the portal or somewhere else? Cause there are plenty of us in my store that are gonna be stoked for the face piercings, but my manager is gonna try to nitpick it, so I want to be able to just bust out this paper so they can't say shit
NOTcreative-7 points3y ago
Search “dress code guidelines” on partner hub.
iamnumber473 points3y ago
Thank you so much 😁
Update- I'm still not finding it, can anyone send me a direct link?
NOTcreative-2 points3y ago
Are you searching within internal partner hub? Can’t link to it.
iamnumber471 points3y ago
Yeah I tried at home & at work both, maybe I'm just computer illiterate haha
NothingToSeeFolks6 points3y ago
starbucks.com/dresscode
iamnumber472 points3y ago
Thank you 😁
nate_smithws15 points3y ago
I don’t even see a difference
DraconidZinnia2 points3y ago
We can wear t-shirts now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
nate_smithws2 points3y ago
Whoaaaaa
SelocAvrap14 points3y ago
Leggings under shorts not being in dress code is *rude*
LoveLaferte14 points3y ago
I opened Sunday morning and I wore a an XL T-shirt (I’m 5’1) that came down to my knees with some leggings underneath. Only worked a four hour shift and boy it was the comfiest I’d ever been.
rosallia6 points3y ago
Oh my god, that sounds fantastic
silversungoddess3 points3y ago
That would technically still be against either dress code (the new or the old) cause no T-shirt’s in the old one and leggings only under dresses and skirts in the new one
7brooms13 points3y ago
I’m already only allowed to wear black and white anyway, I’ve accidentally turned goth
[deleted] [OP]10 points3y ago

KhaileRae10 points3y ago
So... can I put all my earrings back in...??
blueteas10 points3y ago
does this mean that i can have a nose ring instead of a stud because the online one i always checked said specifically stud /:
karis22996 points3y ago
I think so! I texted my manager and he says smaller than a dime is okay!
blueteas3 points3y ago
oh lovely! thank u so much
myotheracctisaboat10 points3y ago
This seems to restrict jeans more than it did, no? I know my light blue denim has been against the rules, but under these guidelines, looks like even a medium wash is a no-go.
mcr04144 points3y ago
When I first started there was no jeans period. Just wearing jeans of some sort is a blessing i was wearing damn like almost dress pants things lol
myotheracctisaboat2 points3y ago
Me too!! I started in May 2014. I wore exclusively black polos and black or tan chinos. Looking like a middle aged man as a 17 year old girl.
mcr04142 points3y ago
Same! Except in 2013. I was young and felt so dumb in my first day lol
NOTcreative-2 points3y ago
Jean restrictions are the same, also up to managers discretion.
myotheracctisaboat1 points3y ago
Oh great to hear! Thanks.
karis22999 points3y ago
Does anyone know when these new rules are in effect? I'm transferring stores- current manager says today, new manager says January 7..
mango_drango9 points3y ago
Technically in the new year, but some managers are staring it now.
silversungoddess2 points3y ago
Follow the guidelines set forth by whichever SM you’re working under. If you’re in your new store on the 4th, for example, then follow their rules. If you’re wanting to get a facial piercing (again just an example) I’d wait until the 7th.
thatc0fveve-h07 points3y ago
Wait oh my lord can I actually have my septum down now?
danijyb6 points3y ago
You should cut the armpits out of all of your shirts, start a new trend
bootrick6 points3y ago
Hemmed clothing in good repair?
Woulda had to replace my whole work wardrobe if someone started nitpicking. Wasn't gonna happen on fucking barista pay.
Glad I'm out. Best wishes to all of y'all.
silversungoddess2 points3y ago
That has always been part of the dress code, at least for the past 2 years
awtterpops6 points3y ago
All of my pants are plaid. RIP me. Time to spend $300 on jeans without rips :(
[deleted] [OP]6 points3y ago
What are the bottom options ?
mango_drango7 points3y ago
They can be anything really as long as they comply with what this says. No higher than 4 inches above knee etc.
cactuskirby7 points3y ago
This always perplexed me about starbucks baristas. In every food place I’ve worked at, bottoms shorter than ankle-length are a hazard. I walk into a licensed store and see some dude in shorts slightly longer than the apron and hope he never spills steamed milk on himself.
mango_drango11 points3y ago
In summer, my shorts are shorter than my apron. I’ve never had a problem with getting anything on my legs. Also in winter my pants stay pretty clean. I just get shit all over my arms and apron.
[deleted] [OP]1 points3y ago

mango_drango1 points3y ago
No
silverleafsea5 points3y ago
Just after I leave, they allow piercings 😤 I hated having to flip my septum ring up for work, when I sneezed it would give me a nose bleed. Every. Time.
VegetableParliament4 points3y ago
Well, fuck. I've pierced my septum twice in the 7+ years I've been with the siren. Time for lucky number three, then.
silverleafsea4 points3y ago
It's possible that its still a little open at this point, since its been pierced twice. Your piercer might suggest having it 'stretched' open if they think it hasn't closed all the way.
rat-czar3 points3y ago
just be lucky you don't have to wear a plain black ingles polo and a stupid fucking baseball cap every single day
BsPaigexx3 points3y ago
The “This section applies to all components of the Dress Code including Hair & Face...” confuses me. I assume any hair color will still be okay? Why are they never clear about this stuff...?
silversungoddess2 points3y ago
It says no temporary hair color (I think mentions chalk and/or spray in colors) so it’s still allowed if it’s permanent.
succmynoot2 points3y ago
is this for just corporate, or does it apply to licensed stores too?
Alohomora4202 points3y ago
Does a tongue piercing constitute as a facial piercing ?? 🤔
NOTcreative-1 points3y ago
No, they specify no tongue studs.
[deleted] [OP]0 points3y ago
[deleted]
NOTcreative-7 points3y ago
You are incorrect. The old one specified the only piercings allowed were two ear and one nose stud, all other piercings not specified were implied not allowed. This one says one facial piercing allowed, no tongue stud or dermal implants. It doesn’t on the above communication but the dress code guidelines posted in the partner hub does. If you like I can take a picture, post and link it. I’d rather not since I already worked 10 hours today but to prevent the spread of misinformation to my fellow partners I will.
Edit: they said they were allowed, deleted their comment and continued to downvote me lol.
miniinovaa1 points3y ago
the fact they said flat heels proves the dress code is fucking stupid and too vague and yet oddly specific
_About_A_Girl_1 points3y ago
So no medium-dark wash jeans?
arcticfury1291 points3y ago
This might be a very stupid question but I wonder if this new dress code allows for things like joggers or more types of pants now?
LoveLaferte1 points3y ago
Well it was a Starbucks T-shirt lol
[deleted] [OP]1 points3y ago

lalaland_lauren-3 points3y ago
just spoke to my manager about it, she said there’s nothing different about this one than what’s in the current look book at all, it’s just probably a quick overview to be able to put up for everyone to see regularly instead of having to go through the book to find it
NOTcreative-27 points3y ago
T-shirts are now allowed, facial piercings outside of just a nose stud are allowed.
