It will seem a little overwhelming at first but you'll get the hang of it I promise. Just take it day by day. Don't be afraid to ask for help either! Sometimes having other shift leads or even baristas to remind you of the little things really helps

Don’t worry about making mistakes, take a ton of notes, ask a lot of questions. You’re already a barista and a trainer so that right there already says you know your stuff and will become a successful SSV. I’ve had to work for SSV’s who were never a barista or trainer before and it’s usually a train wreck situation. A lot of the SSV tasks will become routine for you, I found after 3 weeks of doing it I felt confident and not like I was constantly asking questions or feeling like I was behind. I also would say that while overwhelming in the beginning it’s important to keep the needs of your other partners in mind.... it’s easy to get caught up when you’re first learning your SSV tasks and having to remain observant and supportive to other partners (keeping up with running breaks, rotating positions, placing partners in appropriate positions for their skill level).
Praising partners and giving feedback is super important. Also making sure you place yourself in a position where you can still delegate and keep an eye on things is key. I had to keep my self off DT my first few weeks as an SSV because I would end up stuck on a headset during peak and unable to successfully be a SSV. I’ve slowly learned how to multitask better, I’ll only put myself on DT when I know I don’t have any breaks to run or other SSV duties I need done.
