like that shits rough to handle as an employee, but unless there is nothing you can do and your physical safety is being threatened, if you call the cops, youre just saying youre ok w that person dying ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Exactly. There was a guy yelling and being generally threatening in my store the other day, but my SS just calmly walked over, gave him a free pike, said good morning, asked his name, and had a little conversation. Two minutes later the guy left with nothing but a thank you. De-escalation is always better than calling the bastards

the difference is that when you or i are scared of a person, we have no choice but to deescalate (or call the cops). ideally, cops would also deescalate but a) they are inherently threatening, and b) they still have the ABILITY to have a panic response that could kill or seriously hurt someone (gun/taser/club/etc). having the OPTION of a gun open is too much, and having the option of unpunished physical violence is too much, imho
