Moving from licensed sbux to subx (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Hopemarie25
I just got hired at a corporate starbucks on Monday! I'm super excited to get a fresh start and I will be working with other people instead of being by myself almost 99.9% of the time at the licensed starbucks, I already turned in my two weeks notice yesterday, today I messaged my new sm to let her know when my last day should be. It was an extremely heavy weight lifted off my shoulders since I been at the licensed sbux for over 3 years. I been a certified barista trainer for over 2 years and I have done manager training right after I got my barista trainer certification but not officially certified for the next part just did the book work and the licensed dm's would never show up or would come on my days off. So I will be training for ssv within the next few months and I want to work my way up as well as grow my knowledge as a barista I'm very interested to learn new things. So with that what is the best advice other partners can give me?! I have seen the dress code but if anyone could give me an example as for what shoes I can and can not wear, that would be much appreciated. I am just excited to work with other partners after never having any help for 4+ hours alone then having to deal with my soon to be old store manager who treated me like garbage sorry I'm just super excited yet nervous.

Hell yeah!!! I worked at a licensed store for seven years (I was lucky and had a really great team so I stayed longer) and moved over to corporate this year finally. In terms of shoes, it has to fit the colour pallet (black, brown, blue, tan) and be water proof so no canvas or fabric, leather or pleather kinda deal.

Other than that, get ready to be blown away by how many more benefits there are. Free drinks, free one pound of coffee or via or box of tea every sing week, depending on where you are sometimes you even get free meal too! You are going to absolutely love being surrounded by a team, that was something I really noticed as well that surprised me. I’m introverted so I did enjoy working alone in the evenings, but your team really makes work so much more fun I don’t miss working alone anymore.

Also, get ready to feel like your relearning everything you knew. Your going to be ahead of the game on drinks and coffee and food, but there’s going to be a million new little things to learn, so be patient and kind to yourself. You’ll get to where you were skill wise in time! :)

At the licensed store I'm one of the originals one being a lead the other is the ast and I was in line to be but like I said nothing then there is the old man who's been with the grocery store for like 20+ years and been in sbux for 2 years we are the originals the others are newer but because I closed I never had any help and with the store manager putting me down all the time making me feel less than I got tired of being bullied by an almost 60 year old lazy store manager. So I hate that I am leaving my regs behind and most of them know where I am going already they already said they will be coming to my new store which is 10 min away if that because apparently I'm the only one that can make drinks the right way... moving on I am so glad I will be saving money on my coffee because it's been way to expensive for me lately and I only get shots with light cream and 2 caramels or vanilla and I do get free meals on my breaks ect. They told me about the benefits right away which I pretty much already knew because of all the people we have gone through from corporate sbux and I have learned some things from them when they switched over it was been nice to have that otherwise I would have not known example the blue powder in the coffee urns only get an hour I was trained to leave it over night... but I am ready to just learn more I definitely already have an opened mind I know it's going to take some time and I am hoping to see a happier version of me which I already do feel happier. The one I will be working at I been going to them since they opened they have all been amazing and nice they all seem happy drive thru is always busy inside it's quite and more business people definitely peaceful to me at least and I've been their all different times of the day it's a mile away from my house so I'm happy no more wasting gas either. Thanks for your advice I appreciated it!
