Oh my god sometimes I'm trying to be helpful and I get bossy and I'm a slightly roasted green bean and it's me I need to sit down.
Jtsamulski 31 points 3y ago
I had a coworker that would call me at 4 am in the early mornings asking me about the close the night before on my days off :)
michaelbleu 8 points 3y ago
Report that to your sm, that’s unacceptable
Jtsamulski 4 points 3y ago
They are long gone thank goodness
burberrybradshaw 26 points 3y ago
One time my coworker texted me bc she thought an insta story was about her and told me we needed to have a sit down talk. I told her no and if she feels like a post of me calling someone Hellen Keller and ray charles is about her it’s not my problem lol.
ajades1013 13 points 3y ago
Same thing with a coworker and me on my snapchat story. No more coworkers on my social media that’s for sure
nosmokingz0ne 8 points 3y ago
This is why I block coworkers on social media. Is she visually impaired? Why did she think it was about her?
burberrybradshaw 8 points 3y ago
Earlier that day I dropped the ice coffee and she saw everything and then she was shook that we were out of iced coffee when I told a customer and I was like “well I thought you saw sorry”. So that’s why. Coincidence I guess lmao because the post was about my billion doctors for my pregnancy. I just blocked everyone after that. I didn’t need coworker drama and pregnancy drama
thehalima 17 points 3y ago
This has been happening often with a fellow green bean who started a month after me.
youdontsayeh01 15 points 3y ago
Unpopular opinion. If what they are saying is right, does it really matter what their title is?
kneecole123 12 points 3y ago
HONESTLY. Like, what if they are trying to develop? My SM wouldn’t even consider me to be a shift if I didn’t start taking on tasks like I was one.
always_hungryy 8 points 3y ago
There is a difference in showing leadership and being bossy to your boss. Or not doing the things your boss asked you to do and then tell someone else to go do stuff.
youdontsayeh01 2 points 3y ago
Yeah but the post is about co workers not about anyone's boss. You are not co workers with your boss.
always_hungryy 6 points 3y ago
A SSV and a barista would be co workers and not to say that an SSV is a boss but they are the ones who run the shift. At my store there is a barista who likes to talk back to all the SSVs and not do what they tell her to. She also likes to tell all the barista what they need to do while she does nothing. This is what I think about when I see this post. This is also how I imagine all the other baristas feel when she tells them they arent doing what they are supposed to as she is literally doing nothing
youdontsayeh01 1 points 3y ago
Well dang she needs to go, lol. That is textbook toxic behavior. I feel you though those can be the hardest people to work with, my fingers are crossed that the sm will follow up with her.
thehalima 1 points 3y ago
If you still don’t know how to use the pos system then don’t tell me what to do at work. I’ve taken orders from co workers who I think are truly stupid but know more than I do and are better than me at this job.
AliCandyBar 4 points 3y ago
I’m just glad that the one coworker I had that was like that left, and I got a better job so I don’t have to worry about people like that anymore.
Hydrangeari 3 points 3y ago
Listen... I'll be real. My store has a shitty manager that doesn't hold people accountable and doesn't train/redirect anyone because he's scared of confrontation. IF A PARTNER WHO KNOWS THEIR SHIT TELLS YOU TO DO SOMETHING.... DO IT. I'm not a shift because we're at capacity and I'm transferring out, but when I tell people to do something they respond with "You're not a shift" and I'll have the shift say EXACTLY what I say after having to stop whatever they're doing.
rileyabsolutely 3 points 3y ago
I guess, but delivery is important. i had a similar situation where the manager was fucking off all the time and a shift started acting like she was ASM basically and running shifts while i’m lead, barking orders around. etc. Nobody wats to take orders from someone who is being patronizing, and if they are not your superior, there is a sense of “i know what i’m doing and you don’t so do as i say” that you should be aware of and trying not to come across like
Hydrangeari 2 points 3y ago
We had that too, honestly our store is a mess. Everyone who does work is leaving and all the bad workers are staying
rileyabsolutely 1 points 3y ago
i hear ya. starts at the top and shit runs downhill
PurpleTIEFighter 3 points 3y ago
Yeeeeeeah. A couple of my coworkers have really been trying me with this shit lately. Including trying to coach me while I was having a panic attack in the backroom because how dare I leave the floor for even five minutes in the middle of not-at-all-a-peak and it's like baby you're a barista the same as me. Fuck off.
Rubber_and_Glue 2 points 3y ago
As someone who has a coworker who will often tell me what to do while they stand around doing nothing, I feel this.
gingervitis_93 1 points 3y ago
We have this one partner at my store. I think he's trying to be helpful, but he's not. Yes, dude, I understand that I am DTO now that we're two-manning it in DT... The shift literally just said that. And I understand my responsibilities when I'm on front reg... You don't have to remind me,how to do my job. You've heard my numbers and they're older than yours.

I have no problem with things like "Hey remember! Eggnog lattes don't get whipped cream" when you see me.make a mistake. But don't assume I don't know how many pumps of vanilla go in whipped creams or that I don't know how to do a trash run...
consciouscell88 1 points 3y ago
I find more power of self-expression as a barista. Saying things how they truly are without having to sugar-coat anything.
