Everything but the call outs... no one should feel bad for calling out sick to work.

No no one ever should. Never mad at people for calling out it sometimes just does wreak havoc when it’s a lot of people at once hahah

My store always makes everyone feel guilty for calling in sick. It’s such a hassle! I was sick with a stomach flu last year. Called in 5 hours before my shift, plenty of time. SS on duty said she couldnt help me, my responsibility. I called the manager and ASM who told me the same thing. Literally puking and calling people to cover. I honestly think they were expecting me to come in, carrying a barf bag. Such a fucking horrible system. The Corporation should make it less stressful and nerve-wracking on us.
Sorry-verbal diarrhea...

It’s company policy that if you are sick it is your store manager’s responsibility to cover your shift for you. I would recommend looking up the policy on the partner hub and showing it to your store manager. That is absolute crap that they put you through that. If your SM doesn’t listen, you should take it to your DM— for your sake and for the sake of all of the other partners you work for!

Trust me, I have tried. I want to start a group that helps people in the service industry-like us-deal with work-related issues. A group that meets regularly to vent, and support each other. Peer counseling, recommendations for legal assistance( for harassment, labor violations, etc).
I have more ideas, but I never had any takers. I have worked In the service industry for 15 years. And Starbucks for 5, and I’ve seen and heard so many horrible things. I just want there to be a place for US. The Corporation says that our work is supposed to be a “third place,” but it is NOT for us.

Sorry... verbal diarrhea... again.

No I get that you should NEVER have to feel that way! You can’t control getting sick so idk why people expect us to take responsibility for something we can’t control! I’m so sorry you had to go through that :(

I agree. However my sympathy starts to wane when working at a mallbux the same people seem to get sick every Saturday.

I have no problem being out of food items, keeps my drive thru times down lol. What I hate is when the sticker machine goes down because nobody knows how to write on cups anymore.
