A lot of call outs (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Confusedgabi
I started back right about in August, and no one at my store ever seems to want to show up?? Recently I started getting asked if I wanted to cover some shifts at another store... is this just the holiday burn out? Because I get it.... but like at least I show up for my shifts :/

i feel like a lot of baristas are getting burnt out. so busy, and we arent getting paid enough to get screamed at and have 40 second window times AND to connect with every damn customer... they expect way more commitment and effort than we are paid. if they want a luxury experience they gotta pay us luxury prices... thats just my opinion

No no I’m here with this, I’m feeling pretty burnt out myself, but it’s much worse when call outs are this consistent because even my more peppy coworkers are NOT feeling it. Holidays are wack. Crappy hour makes everyone unhappy and if we get any call outs this Thursday I’m just straight up crying in front of the customers.

3 people called out at mine today. At least one person a day has been calling out.

my store had this issue for like 8 months and then my sm went on vacation for a month and a new manager came in to cover for her and she started enforcing the whole “you have to find your own coverage" thing before you can call out and now we have far less. Also now if people call out a bunch they get written up

It could be a morale issue too. How is it at your store?

Uh.... kinda lower right now, but it’s definitely worse when a call out happens during your shift... and it’s happened to a lot of us.
