So I work in a kiosk in a grocery store. I just found out that for working Thanksgiving I got paid an extra dollar an hour, I worked 5 hours. So for working Thanksgiving day I got an extra $5. I will not be volunteering to work any other holidays, I can tell you. But it makes me curious, for anyone who's store was open on Thanksgiving, did you get holiday pay of time and a half, or any other compensation?

i got double pay, but it was marked strangely on my pay stub. i work in a safeway, though. not sure if you do as well, but it might just be marked strangely on your pay stub. ask your store manager to be sure.

It was marked as "holiday pay" on a separate line from my regular pay and at $1/hour. So I got my regular pay, 5 hours, plus a dollar more per hour so $5 more.

Unfortunately your store is licensed so it doesn’t have to pay holiday pay at all if it’s not in any local laws/company policies. I really dislike that as it actually decreases morale :( I’m sorry

Oh we are definitely Kroger employees and not Starbucks employees. Kroger's employee policies are starting to really stink. I hear they used to be quite good, so this is sad to watch happening.

I work at a Target Starbucks and I was happy that I got time and a half. But I was a little upset when I found out that at midnight I stopped getting my holiday pay. I was there till 2 am, and left my family’s thanksgiving. I’m just surprised that they would stop the holiday pay before we closed on “Thanksgiving” (Friday)

Company stores give overtime pay 1.5X for those holidays. Licensed stores may do something different. Varies a bit based on the company and the local labor laws.

I was payed time & 1/2, but my pay stub says it was from over time pay? (I didn’t actually go overtime) so idk it was weird.
