As an old bean, I want to stress that you’re not bothering anyone by asking for help, not even during a rush. Everyone knows you’re new, and it’s better if you ask how to do it right than have someone else need to come along and correct it later. If you’re having troubles with drinks, ask someone to show you where the recipe cards are so you can study and review. There should also be clean play cards for positions like customer support. You’re still new and still learning, and no one will fault you for that. <3

Thankyou for this I just stress a lot over things and I’m too hard on myself sometimes because I don’t wanna let anyone down. I’ll make sure to talk to my trainer and other coworkers about any recipe cards and play cards so I can study ):

We've had partners take pictures of the till screens to learn them (I feel this is above and beyond, but if you want to do it it might help). Also if you have slow times in your store, ask to practice on till/bar/cs, whatever you feel you need more work on. And I agree, ASK QUESTIONS!! I really appreciate when people ask and I'm more than happy to help. If its busy I might give a quick answer/solution or do it myself, but I always make sure to come back and show them what I did and how. You sound like you're interested in doing the best you can and that's all I ask for in a green bean. Show initiative and you'll be fine!

If you’re having trouble making drinks study the recipe cards when you can, take it easy and don’t overwhelm yourself, if you can make a latte the rest is easy!!! Never be afraid to ask for help, and you can do it!

One day I had a free afternoon and I hung around in the back for a couple hours. Read EVERY SINGLE RECIPE CARD. I even re-sorted them so the duplicate ones were together, and the ones in the wrong section were returned where they should go. After that I started recognizing some patterns. But it was still going slow so I asked my SM to schedule me when I could get more bar practice. That is going well so far.

i totally get that. i’m going on 7 months and just recently got the hang of things. it is confusing, it’s awkward and uncomfortable but soon you’re gonna be a drink pumping machine. biggest thing for me was just practice everything, know what you need to work on and what you have down, and what you need yourself. communication is key and as long as you’re open and showing you’re trying, that’s all anyone would want. your coworkers would rather have a green bean actively working to get better and make a few mistakes on the way and learn rather than a green bean not trying at all and then complaining when they don’t get it. keep going, stay strong and practice.
