Tips about harassment in the work place. (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by and-i-oooppp
There’s this partner in my store who seems to be harassing me. It honestly started as a joke. And of course I can have bad opinions about myself (though it’s not healthy) but hearing a partner say something that is out of line that doesn’t add up to anything in the conversation. Just bothers me. I didn’t say anything to bother them. I don’t know the right thing to do. Maybe just ignoring?

Don't tolerate a workplace environment that makes you uncomfortable. Start out by asking the person to stop. If that doesn't work bring it up with an Shift. If that doesn't work talk to your SM.

Go straight to Partner Resources. It's better if you have witnesses

If you feel comfortable doing so I would start with just telling them to knock it off. Maybe they think they’re being funny, maybe they are just an asshole. Either way, tell them to quit. And If it continues, tell your SM or a SSV.

If they intimidate you or you can’t bring yourself to say something for some reason, just go straight to management.

Thank you! I’ve told them to back off multiple times but it hasn’t worked. I’m changing my schedule times anyways since classes are over so I probably won’t work with them much.

Let them know that it bothers you. Since it started as a joke, they might've thought you got a laugh out of it as well, but if you pull them to the side and let them know that you don't find it funny, they might just stop without having to go higher up the chain

Also you speak just like one of the baristas in my store. I'm not sure if y'all are just both vsco girls or if you're the same person, but if it is you, I had fun working with you today, even if I didn't talk a bunch
