Is it worth the shot? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by ResidentialSaltbox
So, we have an open shift position at my store. When I was interviewed, I told my SM that I would love to work up the ladder. Every job I’ve had, I’ve been a manager and I have the leadership and the determination. I bust my ass at work to make sure things are done even staying late to cover or covering at other stores. Everyone at my store loves me and I get along with coworkers and customers. I was thinking of talking to my SM tomorrow about possibly being considered and what I would have to do to become a shift. I’m high in the running for POQ this quarter and I think I have what it takes but I’ve only been with starbucks for 2 months. Is it worth taking the shot? I have 5 years of barista/coffee/training/retail management experience.

You're definitely more qualified than any of my shifts who only took the promotion for the pay raise. I wish any of them had half your desire to actually be a leader. I think you'd be great!

If anyone is following up; I talked to him. There’s apparently not an open position? Buuuut Im getting trained to be a barista trainer after the holidays AAAAND he said I’m definitely his first choice if a shift opens up ☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️

I'd say go for it! The worst that happens is they say no, but then you've also gained experience and interview practice!
