Recently got the opportunity to become a trainer , any advice ? I’ll be training my first person soon and I’m nervous I’m going to forget everything last minute 😬

1. keep in touch with your SM about how each day of training went. If there are problems they should know ASAP so that they can do something about it
2. Keep it positive. Even if your trainee messes up, find something they did right, and then work on fixing what went wrong. Avoid negativity as much as possible.
3. You can ignore the part of barista trainer training about 'learning styles' it's pretty useless, and the scientific evidence doesn't support the weight that starbucks training puts into it.
4. remember that we use a 70/20/10 model, meaning that 70% of what a barista does is learned on the job by doing it, 20% is training, and 10% is prior experience. So you don't have to teach them everything, just enough so that another barista or SSV can coach them.
5. make sure your trainee knows it's ok to ask questions. They should have lots, and if they're not asking them, then you need to prompt them to ask questions.

That’s how I feel too! After Christmas I’m starting my trainer training and I’m just like aaahhh “what is coffee?”
