It makes a good point, but I also see a major problem with lots of SMs that put little to no effort to recognize their team. SMs rarely work nights, I have one closer who's only seen our SM once in the past 6 months for her PDP. Our last POQ was unceremoniously notified by a crinkled printout posted on a fridge that few people look at, she didn't even know for a few days because our SM said nothing about it. I see a lot of SMs that are disengaged and don't act like they're part of their store's team.

THIS. I feel like this is the most important thing. My old SM was pretty disconnected. It wasn't too bad, but he never ever worked nights (that I know of), would only work one position on the floor (DTO) unless partners made a fuss, would write people up for over sleeping when he scheduled them to clopen, and the list goes on. As a person, he was fine. As an SM he was disconnected and worse, usually unwilling to really listen to partners when they tried to bring up issues or get support. He'd say he'd handle it and do nothing, or say that we all just needed to be more positive.
My new SM is amazing. He truly makes an effort to see that everyone is cared for and to be fully integrated in the team.

That’s not how I feel at my store if I’m being honest here. I think it’s the stores that aren’t making the most money that are being affected by this and it sucks ):
