Call the store. I love when people call and follow up about their applications. It shows dedication tbh. And I respect that and usually will push to get then in for an interview when I can.

My store was actively hiring. I put in an application and when I did not hear back two weeks later, I went over to the store and asked to speak to the manager. We talked for a couple of minutes, I said I put in an application a couple weeks ago and was just wondering about the status. I got hired.

Usually when you ask in a store, you’ll be talking to a barista or a shift supervisor, not a manager. We don’t usually know that kind of stuff.
There should be a business card for that stores general manager by the condiment bar; you could try sending them an email explaining you already applied and were curious if they’re actively hiring at the moment.
You should totally mention your prior experience in food service in the interview. They’ll probably ask a question about how youve dealt with challenges at work, and you can bring it up then.
