Did good today! (self.starbucksbaristas)

So, I was on POS today and this lady came in at around 6pm. She was a middle aged woman and she reminded me a lot of my mom, while I was taking her order I noticed that she had been crying. I really wanted to make her day better, but I knew that I couldn’t just give her the drink for free. I remembered that I had just gotten my tips for the week and I’m not sure if I was supposed to or if it’s allowed, but I pulled out my wallet and paid for her drink. She was really nice about it and everything, insisting on paying for her drink, but I thought it might’ve been a nice gesture to make her day better.

I would have done a right now recovery button tbh. I am completly okay with partners doing this for customers especially when they notice they are upset. Or I would have asked a nearby partner for there numbers and explain why I did later on. It really is providing the Starbucks experience in my opinion doing this. As long as its not something being done everyday.

I’ve had a lady tell me to put extra whip and caramel because she was having a bad (sounded really sad) so when she got to my window I told don’t worry on us and hope she has a better day. She started crying. I almost started crying because I knew that small moment meant a lot to her. Don’t ever be scared to use the right now recovery button that’s what it’s there for. Just don’t abuse it lol
