(((Okay but partners who are serious about potential union where are you and where are we doing this?)))(self.starbucksbaristas)

We throw around a lot of talk, but I know there are people out there who want this change. I don't feel safe doing this sort of thing on any of the well known fb groups or subs.

Someone on Twitter put it best: Unions are like condoms. If someone is trying very hard to convince you that you don’t need one, you DEFINITELY need one.
ETA: Meant to post this as a reply to a disparaging comment but here we are

Best advice I’ve been told is to organize intelligently. Learn your rights, and keep a low profile until you’re strong enough as a committee to go public. It is illegal under the US federal law for your employer to fire you for unionizing, but that doesn’t stop them.

Unionizing, correct.
Finding random "not performing job to par" things? not protected.

If you are at work and get asked to go home you can refuse. If you were scheduled hours, you have the right to work them. And if you feel like you are punished for staying, that’s a form of retaliation, you contact PRSC. They’re not going to want to deal with all those partners incidents.

i’m in maine!! :) i’m so serious about a union! i’ve dipped my toes in the water, a few of my coworkers are enthusiastic towards unionizing and i think there’s more on my team who would go along with it as well.
i don’t know much about unionizing, but please feel free to DM me about it!!! let’s do this >:)))

You'd have to form one on a regional scale and backed by all partners, not just 1 or 2, before it was even known about (by higher ups) for it to get anywhere. Otherwise it just becomes seperate and hire again, which they can do since it's a job you can get with 0 education and everyone is looking for jobs and benefits.

I'm in Wisconsin but our ability to unionize has been drastically hampered by our previous governor, who slashed the unions of our teachers in Milwaukee. There were many days of protesting outside our capitol and it did nothing to hinder the law being passed.

I’ve heard there’s a union in California but idk about other states... I’d love for there to be a nationwide union for us, but that would probably require hundreds if not thousands of employees to bad together which can be difficult.

I’ve been in multiple unions and a lot of people hate them without realizing the benefits they are getting from them.
