i got a second job (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by immahumanbean
hi all. recently got hired at starbucks last month but didn’t start training until this week. training is going well so far, but one problem. i just got hired to work at disneyland (i’m also positioned at starbucks there). when i told the store manager about my second job, he wasn’t very accommodating and told me it wasn’t going to work out.

since it’s going to be that way, i was considering to just turn in my two weeks so i don’t cause any trouble in the future. when is the best time i should do it? after my training shifts(they are done next week) or asap? i am still willing to work the shifts i have already been scheduled

i just don’t want to leave my coworkers hanging by not having a person there who was scheduled :( i’m trying to do the best thing possible and i don’t mean any harm and i wouldn’t want to be wasting anyone’s time

AND ALSO with all the news about the labor cuts i wouldn’t want to be taking away hours from someone who really needs them, so in the long run I will probably quit no matter what. just need to know when is the best timing :(

If you’re training it will probably be best to let them know ASAP. They will probably tell you not to come in, but it won’t hurt any coworkers as it’ll free up time from training you.

Don’t be too hard on yourself, things happen

I would go back to the manager and try to negotiate a way to accommodate. What is your availability if you have the Disney job? If your new availability is not going to work for the store, then there’s no point in continuing with training. You’re not actually counted as labor and whoever is training you is off coverage too. In that case I would just tell the manager it sounds like you’re going to have to quit and ask if they want you to finish out the schedule. Chances are, they won’t.
