I think I want to give up (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by rexi_sang
I’ve gotten to a point where I just don’t feel like smiling anymore. I can’t seem to properly handle the stress. My coworkers are beyond amazing and my SM and ASM are just as awesome, but I can’t handle the stress, I can’t handle playing a Russian roulette to see which customers will be decent and who will be rude and abusive. I used to find joy in my job, I can’t handle being put on drive thru most of my shift. Now I just feel stuck and trapped. I don’t think Sbx is the place for me anymore.

I just had to tell someone who may know what I’m going through.

I get what you’re going through, I usually have to force myself to smile to take a persons order because i swear it’s just one rude person after another. I would try to talking to your manager if I were you to be put on bar or customer support so that way you can take a break from talking to customers 24/7. Being on CS or bar has helped a ton to take away stress personally because drive thru and register can really drain a person.

They never want to put me on bar. I swear they put people with much less time with the company on bar much more often. I’m always stuck on DT or POS. I’ll try talking to him about it but so far everyone has been dismissive when I tell them.

I understand. After being understaffed, having a 2 hour peak in my cafe, and having my own panic attack in the back room, I feel like the amount of effort and dedication that I have to this company outweighs the $20 in tips I make a week and the $500 I get every 2. If a job puts so much stress on you and your partners to the point that you all cry in the back every shift, it’s probably time to start over somewhere else.
