My manager informed us ssv a month ago that Starbucks wide, partners dont recommend working at their own store. My manager encouraged us to take those emailed surveys and up the score. How about instead of Starbucks pointing out the low scores, they do something to change Starbucks into a positive work environment? They listen but don't do anything about it I guess🙃 I for one have yet to up my survey vote just because Starbucks wants to look good.

Your manager is actively encouraging you to upvote just to make the company look good? Lmao I’d just rate it even lower after that.
Currently looking for a new job so I don’t have to work at a place that only gives minimum and not a living wage

Are we surprised? I mean come on, they push employees to be as fake as possible to manipulate customers into rating us 7/7 full marks

We just got a new dm two months ago. She's been pressuring every sm to cut as many labour hours as possible in every daypart every day because she's wants her bonus. Our customer connection score that we've been working so hard to raise had gone back down to 33, tips are horrible, partners are all unhappy and overworked, AT LEAST one call-out every day understaffing us EVEN MORE. I am highly debating writing a letter to this lovely dm explaining EVERYBODY (baristas, shifts, sm, and customers so I do mean everybody) is truly unhappy. But then.... We get these visits from her where she joins us on the floor, out of dress code, to show us she's got what it takes. Well, she doesn't. She doesn't know standards, doesn't know what the sanitizer timer means, etc. But she's pushing for higher customer connections. We are only human

DM talk big, but can never back it up. Had one boast if we where truly in need she would come work a shift. There where really crazy days with call our/ customer volume, but she never came in to help. Instead complained about drive times.

we have the same exact problem right now except our new DM is a former barista and actually knows his stuff. the regional manager is okay with the labor cuts and frankly is one of the fakest people i’ve met. i think they forget that none of us are just working there for fun, we have bills to pay and can’t do a thousand things at once. our store is steadily getting dirtier because we don’t have the time or manpower to do detailed cleanings and half of our staff has either quit or transferred out, leaving us even more understaffed, with a bunch of newbies. i’ve had customers, completely unprompted, say we look way too understaffed. it isn’t right.

They demand an unreasonable workload for the pay. I will continue to rate them low until they actually start to take workers seriously when we say we need the right labour

I fully agree with a more positive work environment. My manager leaves large notes and group messages us about how bad a close was. (My manager is the primary opener.) The things that are written are so humiliating and personal. I'm so glad I'm quitting soon.(Sorry for being a little off topic.)

That sounds miserable, seriously? I’m so sorry.

Oh no. This is not okay. I am a shift and I would be so appalled if our store manager did that! We have a group chat that all of us shifts communicate in, but we NEVER talk down to each other! That really bothers me that your manager does that! I used to work for Panera and I had a store manager as well as other assistant managers that would text me in the group chat at 5am PARAGRAPHS of what I did wrong and would be so disrespectful and embarrass me in front of the others. It affected my self esteem and made my anxiety so much worse due to always being afraid of what I was going to read when I woke up after closing. Moral of this story: DO NOT put up with that. Talk to your DM or RM about this. Even if you’re quitting. Because your feelings and being treated with respect matter.

I just got my partner survey oh how work was I always give it a 1.
colonade174 points3y ago
Be honest in the surveys. If starbucks wants us to recommend working at the company they need to change things to make sure they actually appreciate and delight their own partners.
nodnarb_thebarista3 points3y ago
That’s funny because I was in Chicago and that survey was specifically talking about managers, not partners. Still though, a manager should change the way they are doing things to improve if they want partners to rank their experience better.
