First breakdown short rant (self.starbucksbaristas)

Hey guys so I just finished taking someone’s 11- to closing shift. I’m fairly new maybe a few months and I have started to solo close. Being the holidays me and a new shift had a horrible close two days ago so yesterday I come in and everyone is telling me how pissed two shifts (who I admire) were with me one way more than the other. One shift wrote 20+ notes in the book of everything we did wrong and it wasn’t entirely our fault we had a huge group of people come in 5 min before we closed we didn’t have last drink done until 15 min after then when we got the store looking decent it was 8:30 and we had to leave at 45. So today pre close didn’t get done because it was so busy my breaks were an hour or two behind schedule and I was stuck on register until we closed and then I started pre closing with the shift who hates me. At 7 so our closing time on Monday so we had to catch up Then the other shift came to help out (yes I love him) but he was making kinda rude comments the entire time like this was my fifth time closing and I could have asked questions last week but it’s too late and he kept bringing up how it was my fifth time and I should know what to do and I wanted to say how there was nothing I could do we were so busy but I bit my tongue and he was saying how this is stuff i should of done and I wanted to snap at him so bad but I’m on the verge of tears rn and just feel so bad and I’m dreading to come close again on Saturday. I just need someone to talk to I’m sorry and if you read through all of this thank you :)

🙄🙄🙄🙄 The tragic tale of openers vs. closers. I would not even take serious stock in what they’re saying. Although like the previous person said I would ask what y’all are doing right. A little encouragement can go a long way.
Also that shift is bonkers for thinking a few closings mean that you know exactly what to do. Also majority of the blame is on the shift. I’m not even a shift, but if I’m preclosing or closing and I have a green bean I make a list of what needs to be done. That way if we have any free moments between customers there’s some guide to follow and also I tend to prioritize my list with the most important things higher up on the list. As long as most of that list gets done they can eat it.
I’ve been strictly a closer before and now I’m always there at open and I know things get crazy on both day parts. Some people lose sight of that when they don’t do another position often.

They are dicks, it will take you a while to be good at closing. There is a steep learning curve. Ask them what are you doing right so you can build upon that.
