Crappy hour rant (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by bbun223
Today honestly made me feel like it was a personal vendetta against baristas to make Happy hour on Boxing Day. Not only is it just busier on Boxing Day because everyone is out shopping, but it’s a day after a holiday and for most locations a day with holiday hours. So this means we open the store later then usual, having to do every single item of prep due to being closed the day before, having to deal with customers showing up while we are still setting up the store since it’s already well into the morning. And THEN happy hour goes up right until our early close. So there’s no couple of hours of normal business where we can clean and do what we need to for close. What a damn shitshow honestly. Us closers are gonna have to be here well past close because how can we clean anything when we have a busy dt and cafe 5 min before we close. We are gonna have to lock people IN the store at close just so more people don’t keep coming in.

Fuck this company honestly. Wish we would all strike. Hopefully it happens soon but god damn I’m a grown ass man who goes to the gym and I leave work absolutely exhausted. I have other work but I liked working here. Going to drop it soon though I regret staying this holiday and woulda just left if it didn’t leave my team without a core barista.

All of this, plus half the store is sick and my manager just put out a memo saying she isn’t approving any more shift changes until further notice because we’ve been swapping shifts too much.
