Another Karen (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Maddyc0709
*Scene: Happy Hour drive thru*

Karen: “I’ll take a Grande Nitro Sweet Cream. And can you leave the cream on the top so that it’s dark on the bottom and lighter on the top?”

Me: “The Nitro and the Sweet Cream are a little thinner so we can try but they might mix together.”

Karen: “Just don’t mix it!”

Drives off to come to the window.

Hand Karen her drink that did what I said it was going to do. Karen stares at it with disgust.

Karen: “This isn’t right. When you guys first came out you would make it dark on the bottom and with whipped cream on the top.”

Me: “So you wanted to add whipped cream”

Looks at me as if I just spoke another language.

Karen: “No it’s not whipped cream. It just sat on top.”

Me: “Oh! You’re wanting the cold foam on top of a cold brew. Would you like us to remake it to the correct drink?”

Karen: “*scoffs* At EVERY Starbucks I go to they always make it that way. I’ve never had a problem ordering it before! No I’ll just drink it, it’s fine.”

Sorry guys but Karen ratted you all out and you’re not making Vanilla Sweet Creams correctly😂😂😂 Also, her husband was mocking me the entire time cause people are actually demons. Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk.

you should’ve brought the sweet cream pitcher over to the window and poured it there so she could see what happens when you mix 2 liquids together 🤣
Maddyc0709 [OP] 24 points 3y ago
Totally should have!
Grobanne2011 65 points 3y ago
The husband was mocking you? Damn...that's uncalled for.
PigeonBitch 44 points 3y ago
They’re made for each other

I’ve worked in the restaurant industry for years and have much worse happen so it doesn’t phase me too much. I do bite back when it’s my coworkers though cause I know how shitty it feels to be treated like that. I don’t know why people have to be so awful.
michaelbleu 42 points 3y ago
"Excuse me, but you have to be respectful of us if we're going to serve you. If you continue mocking me then I'm going to have to ask you to leave, might I suggest McDonald or 7 11 down the road?"
Kaylushhh 18 points 3y ago
Exactly this. Don’t take the abuse from ANYONE!!
yosoyboi 12 points 3y ago
Fuck that, even the guys at mcdicks don’t deserve to be shit on the way these customers do.

OMG I SAY THE SAME SHIT HAHA

Ok so not entirely related, but kind of...

I’m in a kiosk in a kroger and for as long as I’ve been here, we get the kroger employees their coffee before we actually open. I dealt with it but my one coworker had had enough and long story short, management made a sign that told everyone we were open at 6 and there would be NO exceptions. This obviously ruffled some feathers but not a big deal. So one employee—who is a notorious bully—saw the sign and smiled and said “that’s ok. I’ll just get my coffee somewhere else.” OH NO. I CAN’T BEAR THE THOUGHT OF LOSING YOUR BUSINESS, CHERYL lol I couldn’t care less. Anyway, she comes back up a while later with her McDonalds and actually starts using the cream and sugar from the side bar, acting all smug-like. The best part? She really thinks she pulled a fast one on us like we actually give a fuck that SHE is NO LONGER getting her coffee from us anymore. I could barely hide my laughter when I saw her do that🤣

It’s my favorite when people say they’re never coming back! I’m just like “okay! Bye bye now!”😂
brit_666 8 points 3y ago
And then you see them like a week later back at your store
Thirdatarian 8 points 3y ago
I love that. Or when they say they never come to Starbucks and want what they get at Dunkin but don't know the name, can I make it for them? They're on their break and don't want to spend the whole thing going to get their drink. Oh and also they have no idea what flavor it is or if it has milk or espresso versus coffee. Like okay but I work in an entirely different store, which you should know she you also work at this entirely different store, so you're gonna have to meet me in the middle here because we both know your shift isn't long enough for this conversation. 🙄

I am in a licensed store as well and I feel so bad for saying this but I find the employees who work in the main store to be the literal worst. I get a few who come over either before we open or after we close.

Other Co-worker: Can I just get...?

Me: Sorry, I am closed right now.

Other Co-Worker: But I just want ...

Me: Sorry, I am closed. \*As I run around trying to get everything done by myself\*

I had one co-worker who would try to bully everyone into giving him a free refill on his pimped out refresher. He only stopped after I went to HR about him cause he would harass me every time he saw me whether I was clocked in or not. He also claimed that no other Starbucks in the state charged him for the added lemonade or matcha. He told me he was going to go to the Starbucks in the parking lot. I told him to his face, "Go ahead. If they allow for that, you should take your business there."

People are so fucking dumb it grinds my gears. Grown ass people. “ dark on the bottom and white on top! Everyone knows what I’m talking about!” My child communicates better.
Alliiicatttt 8 points 3y ago
“No one else charges me this way at this store” well I’m the shift supervisor here right now, and I can assure you this is the correct way to be charging and I will make sure In the future, we will be doing it correctly so we don’t have this problem again! Thank you, see you next time!
Rubber_and_Glue 8 points 3y ago
I make a scene when this happens. I act like this is horrible news for me. I am going to have to have conversations with people. I may have to write them up. If this continues, I may have to terminate them. I apologize for the incompetence happening in my store. If you can remember any names, that will really help me.

What makes it even better is that I am not in charge. But it freaks out the customers and they stop complaining.
Alliiicatttt 5 points 3y ago
Haha! I will ask next time. Can you remember the name of the barista who did charge you this way? I will make sure they know the correct way for next time, thank you so much for bringing this to my attention. This is unacceptable.

She's an idiot she just wants a nitro that has been sitting there for a while. It starts to part and looks dark on the bottom. Sometimes people don't even know what they order and just say words.
_nagromshalom 7 points 3y ago
I work at a Starbucks inside of a grocery store, and a Karen came and ordered a grande salted caramel cold foam cold brew. Went and shopped for at least 5 min. When she came back her drink had mostly mixed together because it had just been sitting there. She had us remake it because she wanted it to be "pretty" with the cream and foam not "mixed with the drink". She made a point to tell us she had not had this "problem" at any other Starbucks. Mind you, there is no Starbucks within 90 miles of this location, so it's not like she is talking about a frequent experience. So main point is, I get you and I wish customers actually knew what they were ordering.
MiS_Schuey 3 points 3y ago
She probably wanted a regular vanilla sweet cream cold brew and not the nitro with sweet cream, since that one comes standard with the sweet cream poured on top (and it doesn't mix due to the ice). But obviously she was in the wrong since she didnt even know what she was ordering, lmao
Assiqtaq 2 points 3y ago
So try, though I'm genuinely hoping she does not return to your store, putting the cold brew and water, then ice, then adding the sweet cream very slowly and pouring gently. The ice should keep it a bit less mixed. We all know she is an idiot, I was getting to where doing the pumpkin spice sweet cream I was adding the pumpkin foam so rapidly it was mixing even though it really doesn't do that as easily as the sweet cream does unfoamed. Or like, you know, actual cream does.
I know what she wanted was a different drink, but she'd have at least THOUGHT she didn't have anything to complain about if she thought it looked right.
And yes, I'm one of the guilty ones that was making this drink incorrectly until someone pointed it out. I didn't remember the recipe correctly. :P

Haha we literally have a button for the refresher with lemonade so nice try, guy lol
