Can we accept refused drinks in drive thru? (self.starbucksbaristas)

A lady mobile ordered three drinks and an hour later goes through dt, orders a drink and then pulls up at the window with her old drink in her out stretched hand. She was super rude and demanded I take it back but she had drank half of it. Can we take her old drink back? I told her we couldn’t because she already drank some of it but she insisted.

nope, we can’t take anything through the drive thru wrapper. no trash, old drinks, nothing. health code policy, and besides, it’s just nasty. just tell them no.

I re-learned this the HARD fucking way today.
This lady comes through about a remake. I knew we arent supposed to take their old drinks back but I was suspicious about it and didnt want her to just have two drinks. Idk what I was thinking but I regretted it the second I had my hand on it. It was ice cold and when I dumped it out in the back I got hit with the smell of just straight rotten milk. Idk how old that fuckin drink was but holy shit. Everything got double sanitized.
Spent the next five minutes trying not to hurl. Big big mistake. I'm never breaking that rule again.

no prob! i always just tell them it’s against health code bc they can’t argue too much with that! and if they do, well, that’s their fault!

Tell them they can use the trashcan in the store. But health code prevents you from handling customer drinks after they drink from them.
