Steamed Guava White Tea (GRANDE IN A VENTI RANT) 263-**** (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by muffinslinger
You read right...STEAMED. GUAVA. WHITE. TEA.
This older gentleman comes up and absolutely (and condescendingly) insists that other Starbucks have steamed the guava white tea for him before. I inform him that I haven't been trained to do so but can make him some hot white tea and add/steam the guava separately?
This is after a separate incident earlier this morning where a woman ordered a grande pike with me but complains, "your pike is SO WAtErY ThoUgH" To which I reply, "oh ok! I'm not sure why it tastes watery, but I can mix it with the dark roast and try to make it stronger!" she scoffs and does this whole 'wtf?' head shake/hand motion while I get her coffee. When I turn back to her, she snatches her coffee from my hand is like, "You have a nasty attitude!" (btw she came back for a refill, and I had to insist my shift help her, she made me so uncomfortable)
I've been holding back turning in my typed up 2-weeks notice letter because I love my manager (he has received several quitting notices including one tapped to his desk at 4 am this morning). I want to transfer to a cafe store, but my manager refused to give me a timeline of when that would even be possible due to how many people we have lost. I don't want to add to the labor problem, but these past couple of months have been horrific for my mental and physical health, and I feel so trapped because I care.
TL;DR: Old man insisted we steam our guava white tea. Meanwhile, a wild Karen looking for a fight belabored a barista about her "attitude" being "nasty" for helping.
Sorry for the long rant. Feel free to open up about your day below my fellow Siren Slaves.
