LET ME TELL YOU A STORY!! (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by AcademicArtist97
So last night was overall a dumb night. That is beside the point. The whole night we were closing we were thinking that it was clean play night. So we didn't stock anything, but we did still clean the store of course. Well, fast forward and 30 minutes before close we realized that clean play was not happening and in fact, no one was scheduled to do it. About 5 mins before closing I am grabbing stuff to stock the store, while my manager was counting tills when I hear "HELLO" coming from the front. Now, I thought this entire time my other partner was up at the front of the store. I book it up there when I am greeted by 3 people. Now, there had been no customers in our store for a good 15 mins at this point.

I apologize for making them wait, and then I start to take their order. The wife tells me that she wants an eggnog drink and that she wants a venti. So I begin making an eggnog latte. The husband shows me his phone and says, "I want this" Now, I knew right away that this was an IT Frappucino, but I wanted to make sure. I ask him what is the drink. He says, "I don't know they make it for me at the store." (Not our store, but I guess wherever he is a regular). He then says, "I don't know, it is some Sirius, It something or other" to which I reply, "Oh! Ok so a vanilla bean frappucino with strawberry puree" He says, "Yeah and can you add 2 shots and a banana in there." I was like ok. So I make both of their drinks. As they are going to pay they then say they want to add money to their card first. So I save the first transaction and reload their card.

I finish their drinks and hand it to them. The wife looks at her drink and goes, "ohhhh... I wanted it cold." The husband then clarifies that she wants an eggnog frappuccino. Ok sure, that is on me I should have asked which eggnog drink she wanted. I remake her drink. I give it to her. At this point, we are about 5 mins past closing. They all 3 are sitting down at a table. I inform them that we are currently closed. They say, "Oh! ok. can he (pointing to the son) get a drink too" I said, "sure" figuring I can make drinks quickly and get them gone so I can finish closing the store. He says he wants the chocolate chip drink. I say, "Ok do you want one with coffee or without." He says, "The regular one" So I just make him a Java chip Frappuccino. Eventually, I get all of their drinks made and get them out of the store.

This just follows a full day of being out of strawberry acai and mango dragonfruit plus other stuff. It was a long day and I was glad to be done with it. Our closing team did kill it. We got out late, but given circumstances, we did a really good job.

Y’all don’t have to restock during clean play nights? 😅 a dream. Also you’re v nice for making the extra drink after close.

Totally not the point of your post but you know you can reload the card in the same transaction, right?

No I did not! Like reload and then use it in the same transaction?
_Pulltab_ 2 points 3y ago
Yep!

how? everytime someone tells me they want to reload after they've already scanned their card,it kills me a little inside. I can save the order and what not but how do you reload in the middle of a transaction? especially on drivethru

If you scan their card and it completed the transaction, there’s nothing you can do except do an entirely new transaction. But if they didn’t have enough it should ask you if you want to reload when it says there’s a balance. If not:

On the left side, down towards the bottom, it shows total, and then will say something like SBUX and a bunch of numbers and whatever the amount on their card that was applied, and then below that, the remaining balance. If you tap the line item for the SBUX you can void it and it backs it out. Then just go to Misc, Reload, do the reload amount and scan the card, then when you go to the pay screen, type in the amount they are reloading and choose cash or credit, then for the balance rescan the card.

So, say their total is $19.70 and they only have $3 on their card and want to reload another $20. Hit reload, $20, which then puts their total at $39.70 and then hit $20, CASH, and their remaining balance is back to $19.70, and then hit Starbucks Card and scan again and it puts the remaining amount of $19.70 on their card which would now have a balance of $23 before the balance is subtracted.

We have business people (Sales) come in all the time and do this with their business credit cards. They’ll load the exact amount on their app so they can get the points but expense the cost of the drinks.
