Do we take orders from the store phone? (self.starbucksbaristas)

Not mobile orders, and not for Joe to gos but if someone calls the store and orders drinks on the phone do we take those orders and then save them in the till until the customer arrives and pays for them? I've worked for the company for 3+ years and have never heard of it being done but one of my co-workers says we take orders on the store phone if people call them in.
Is this true and is this a something we are taught as corporate policy ?

Our manager doesn't allow it unless it's to notify us of an order for a traveler, so I tell customers I unfortunately can't, but I always press for details because if its for 40 venti Hot chocolates because a tourist bus is coming through(this has happened) I want to know and I want to warn my team.

i've done it in the past but it was for a guy who would buy 30+ items for his office. he'd come at least 3 times a month so my old boss didn't mind since it was such a big sale and made it easier on us to get it ready for him. but ive always been told we dont since we got mobile order and pay now. but ive never seen a actual policy in writing about it.

Before I was a partner, I worked at another business and I was running late for work. I needed to get my manager her usual Starbucks, so I called my fave store and asked super nicely if they could make two drinks. They were super sweet to do so: drinks were ready when I picked them up, tipped them $10, I was on time to work, manager happy!

I personally don’t do it because we’ve had a few people call in orders and not pick them up or they’ll take HOURS to pick them up.

Weird door dash always comes and orders from us at the register. The driver acting as a normal customer for us.

We do it. It doesn’t happen a lot, but it happens occasionally. Usually it’s for large orders so we appreciate the heads up. Sometimes it’s because mobile says we’re out of something that we forgot to turn back on in the system so people will call to ask if we’re really out and then order it over the phone.
