someone may be forgetting a flat white gets an extra shot?? i doubt that, since it sounds like it has happened a lot of times, but that's a possibility

Probably bc of how they are made. The milk and espresso mix in a latte as you pour, but not that much.
When you make a flat white the angle you’re pouring from mixes the shots with the milk more.
Eg. The tops of lattes are at most a little tan, but the tops of flat whites are a lighter coffee shade
