The location you went to uses what is called "flavor reinvention." Its being tested in select locations. Basically they now have shaker bottles called "flavor dashes" that contain pure flavor extract. These are mixed with either simple syrup or sugar-free simple syrup; this allows customers more sugar-free options.

You can adjust the measurements independently now if you like, i.e. 2 pumps sugar-free simple syrup, 4 vanilla dashes

The dashes of flavor aren't sweet either, just flavor. So if its too sweet, cut down of the SF Vanilla Syrup.

There’s no sugar free vanilla syrup. Only 2 pumps of sugar free syrup and “vanilla” from what looks like a dropper.

Don’t know what the “Jesus Christ” is referring to - me or Starbucks, lol - but I just wanted to double check they got my order right because 8 pumps is a lot of sweetener and I wouldn’t have been able to drink it that sweet. I think it’s a perfectly valid reason to clarify.

We do this at my store. We have simple syrup, sugar free simple syrup and then the flavors.
None of the flavors come pre mixed with simple or SF so you have to do both.
FWIW the flavors are just that, not sweet. So you’re getting the equivalent of 4 pumps, it is not the equivalent of 8.
