What to do when the whole store is broken (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by -Champion400-
Hey guys, I came in today to the delightful news that our hot water, espresso/steaming machine, and coffee brewer are all broken. Obviously I’m going to do some thorough cleaning but other than that there’s nothing to do really. Nobody wants any of the drink we actually can make so unfortunately I won’t have that to waste my time. Any fun suggestions? I don’t want my manager to catch me on my phone

Organize all the shit! Deep clean warming, the cabinets behind the signage, wipe down and organize merch shelves, refill RTD&E, test your knowledge of drink recipes...

We had a city wide water boil notice and by the second day, we just played board games.

it’s actually an Ecosure thing that you’re supposed to close the store if there’s no hot water-it’s unsanitary to wash your hands and dishes in cold water. if they were to show up and test the water temperature, they could shut your store down indefinitely. that happened at my store last week, i was shifting and not thinking much of the hot water being out (we could still make americanos and chais out of the brewer), but my store manager showed up and immediately delegated me to start emergency closing procedures. we could’ve gotten in a lot of trouble because of me that day.
