Rule number one: the baristas are your customers. Work for them they will work for you.
Rule number two: don't be dumb.
Rule number three: if your going to cheat don't get caught.
I was told these three main things 5 years ago by the shift I took over for they have been useful to this day and not just with the company.
On a lighter note, know your timing, communication is key, if you leave the floor let your team know why and what's going on. Your going to miss stuff but own the mistake and move on knowing better for next time. And lastly do not ever be afraid to ask for help! Good luck!

Congrats!! As a 2 yr shift my best advice I can give is to get a small notebook & write everything you have trouble remembering down. Having those notes to look back on when you cant get ahold of any other shifts/managers is really helpful in the moment:) I used mine for the first 6 months as me being an ssv and I cant tell you how many times it really helped me out!

Hey I’ve been a closing shift for about a month now and I enjoy it! It’s really not hard I would say even now start talking to your shifts and asking if you can watch them do all of their shift duties to get a feel of what you’ll eventually be doing. Everybody has a different routine so you’ll pick up little things from everybody and eventually form your own that works best for you! It has its moments when you might get a little flustered but just TRY to stay positive always because if you stress it makes everybody else stress! Good luck with everything :)
