I thought I would post on here something cool that happened since it warmed my heart a little bit.

So I'm not sure if this is every store but I know lots of stores right now are getting their yearly pay raises, which from what i heard is typically like 2%-3%. Now money is money, as much as I disagree with my pay, I will take any raise I'm given. Now the area I'm in is a much higher cost of living by a very significant amount (best example I can give to accurately describe this town's wealth is there is a realtor place that has a big signs saying "homes S T A R T I N G at $1,000,000!" Not to mention gas prices are usually 4x higher then they are a few towns over).

Point being, my partners and I are being paid the same amount as partners in other districts, despite the fact everything around us is priced so much higher to the fact none of us can afford to live. This is something we have all complained about as well, as a shift I make less then a starting wage would at several jobs and I put in a significant amount of work every single day. My DM and SM agreed about our pay not being enough as well and have been working over the corporate overlords to give us a higher raise.. and they agreed!! My SM gave us the news that our raise would be by 14%!!!!! It makes me so happy that my managers fought for us so hard and are trying to give us better conditions. I hope that one day all of us will get the pay we deserve because honestly even though this is a big step in the right direction theres a long road ahead still.

Might I ask what your pay was before the raise?

As a shift I was making $11.56 an hour. I believe our baristas made something like $9.50ish starting off?

what nearby major city/state?... I laugh in pain every time I see the starting wage of mcdonalds, walmart etc in my area... it's not far off from what my shifts are getting paid.

Were in ann arbor MI. I do the same thing lol, I used to work as a crew trainer at McDonald's a few years ago and was making more then I did as a shift now. It blows my mind but McDonald's also didnt provide any benefits so you win some you lose some I guess.
