At my store we have paper straws because of the plastic ban in California. SOOOOO many people complain and say they’re going to call corporate. Like cool go for, because California, AS A STATE, voted in this. But go ahead tell me someone else can save the planet.(i.redd.it)

Why don't they just buy their own damn metal straws? Stg Boomers have never had to solve a problem with how they act.

I’ve said that and a response I got was “but then I’d have to wash it” Like what how fucking lazy are you??
angrybreadsticks6 points3y ago
I’m more concerned about my clumsy ass tripping and getting a metal straw impaled into my brain through the roof of my mouth
not the way I wanna go

I'm concerned for their health wtf 😂

Wait I’m in LA and we still have plastic straws lol

Plastic straws are an accessibility issue. They're the only functional option for a lot of disabled people.
It's not okay for customers to take it out on you, but they should definitely call their legislators because straw bans are ridiculous and violate the ADA.

while yes, you do have a point, like... why don’t they have paper straws for people that need them??? those work, too, don’t they?? I mean they get soggy after a while but they work.
SelocAvrap3 points3y ago
They have a tendency to collapse when damp, yes. https://youtu.be/4IBH0pcKzlY Jessica is a better resource than I am on the subject.

Are patrons with accessibility issues also incapable of purchasing reusable straws?
SelocAvrap1 points3y ago
Again, I will link to https://youtu.be/4IBH0pcKzlY
Patrons with accessibility needs are supposed to have reasonable accessibility requirements met by the business they are patronizing. Reusable straws have a lot of issues (covered in the above video) which cause problems for disabled patrons. Also, with the costs of medications/mobility equipment/etc. disabled patrons already have enough expenses.

We recently got paper straws and they’re cool and all, but they disintegrate in hot beverages (yes some people drink theie coffee with a straw aparently) and they brake when you use them in iced teas because of the lid lol.
Edit: we don’t have nitro lids.
USplendid1 points3y ago
I thought this was suppose to be a two-fold solution? You transition over to paper straws and your location starts ordering nitro lids? So the only beverage that still uses straws is the Frappuccinos?
Lunatics_Apprentice1 points3y ago
We’re licensed and not in the US so everything is a little different here. We’re supposed to get nitro lids when our supplier runs out of the ones we now use. We don’t even have nitro cb..
