Manager said we shouldn't expect a thank you for doing our job (self.starbucksbaristas)

My manager said we're payed to provide excellent customer service so we shouldn't expect a thank you from him or the District Manager when we're working hard. He said he gets all the pressure and stress.



Just wanted to know your guys' thoughts.

We aren't paid enough to provide "excellent" customer service. Adequate? Sure. Okay service, why not? But not excellent. If they think the pay decides how amazing our connections are, then we all need a raise.

Have you told this to the DM? Is the DM a person who would thank you? I know this isn't possible for everyone but consider switching "Bux.

I think "thank you" would be weird but "good/great/excellent/awesome/other positive adjectives job today" for working hard is warranted.

your manager is terrible at his job...I’m a management major and one of the first things that is taught is productivity goes up when there’s recognition. He needs a new career.
