Transferring Due to Manager... Any Advice? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by battygirl6
Hi guys, I posted in this sub a little but ago about having some major issues with my manager. The issues have been continuing so today I decided to transfer. I absolutely love working at Starbucks, and I adore my coworkers but unfortunately I just can't work with this manager anymore.
I just filled out my transfer request form, and I just realized I'm going to have to give it to my manager (awkward). For reason for transferring, I just wrote that I wanted to work at a store that's closer to my house (not untrue, but my manager will know exactly why I'm transferring).
Basically my question is whether my manager can deny my request or not. I know my district manager can deny it, and I'm afraid he will if she says a bunch of things about me in the comment section from her skewed perspective. My store has lost a lot of partners and I know we are currently shortstaffed every day and have to have partners from other stores come in every day, so I guess I don't have much faith that I'll be transferred... Have any of you transferred stores before? How long did it take? Do you have any advice? Thank you guys so much in advance <3

Where did you get the transfer form? I tried to put in a request for a transfer but my manager wouldn’t give me the paper. I spoke to another location and the manager said she would love to have me and to get the form from my manager to put the request in. My manager didn’t give me the paper, and told me she wanted to have a connect with me about it. We didn’t connect, and she texted me saying that the location I wanted to transfer to wasn’t looking for partners and I wouldn’t be transferring. If I can skip her and get the paper elsewhere I would really like to put the request in seeing as she lied to me. I have no problem handing it to her, she can’t deny it, I’d have documentation of the exchange. To which I could follow up with the DM if I need to.

I also believe that you should hand yours in, and if she tries to deny it without true reasons, I would contact your DM.

Your manager wouldn't give it to you?! What the hell.. that's absolutely ridiculous... I actually got the paper from one of my coworkers, but I don't know where she got it. I think I read something on here about being able to find it on the Hub or something? So I would try that. If not, I would call your DM because that is DEFINITELY not allowed and soooo unacceptable. Or you could email her asking for it, because that way there would be proof/a digital trail in case you need to bring it up to a DM or something. I left mine on my manager's desk this morning (of course she ended up calling in "sick") so we'll see what happens :-/ Just hoping everything works out. aaaagggghhhh
