My trainer put me on bar at 7 am, on my second day (self.starbucksbaristas)

I have some barista experience but I was still terrified trying to remember how many pumps in each size, not knowing what was in the unlabeled pump containers (WHY THE FUCK ARE THEY NOT LABELED), and the other very seasoned barista doing DT orders who was clearly annoyed at my lack of speed.

I messed up two drinks, one before handoff (pulled regular espresso instead of blonde) and one after (who was just picky about the unspecified amount of milk she wanted in her Americano), which for me is like, pretty okay, considering I did about 20-25? drinks in 30-40 mins.

As 8 am hit she pulled me off. Thank god. I can still feel the adrenaline rushing through my body 3 hours later.

most shifts will put new people on bar before it gets too busy to gain some experience. only messing up two drinks for a second day is not bad! you should be proud! i’ve been at my store 6 months and we all mess up drinks every now and again you’re still learning the ropes. don’t be afraid to ask questions because it shows you care! keep practicing on bar and you’ll be making two drinks at once in no time! good luck and don’t get discouraged :) hope this helps

Sound like your getting the hang of this! And one of those mistakes was because Karen is a doofus about her americano.....so.... you only had one!

Ask questions and remember ... it’s only a cup of coffee at the end of the day.... I’m a seasoned Shift and I make mistakes too! Everyone does... and then add the Karen factor in and it all goes to hell for a few minutes then a customer offers a genuine smile and it goes back to “calm and peaceful”!
