I recently applied to Starbucks, and I am expecting to be hired. In the case that I am, I was wondering what are the shoes allowed to be worn? I have read the handbook already on dress code, but I find it hard to see any of my shoes being useable. What are your go to work shoes? Is the canvas policy a big deal?

It really depends on your specific store manager. I know that me and most of my partners wear high top converse or vans and that is fine at our store. Make sure your feet are covered and that they’re a dark color/you don’t care too much about them because you will spill all the colors of the rainbow on your feet at one point or another

In theory, canvass shoes wouldn’t be allowed but I also wear them all the time..

The canvas policy is a big deal, as you’re working with hot liquid. Imagine dropping hot water or coffee on them...it’s not fun. Non-slip shoes are recommended. Also, remember that we stand for hours on end—you want a shoe with comfortable support for your foot. Starbucks partners have special discounts with Sketchers, if you would like to check those out.
Long story, choose comfort and safety over fashion.
Personally, I wear Johnston and Murphey leather cap-toe boot, as they are comfortable; easy to slide on and off, and they have sufficient tread to make them non-slip for me.

Honestly just go to Walmart and buy the shoes there they’re just as good!! Then eventually get others.

They’re supposed to be leather/rubber/something that would stop boiling water from burning your foot when you drop it lol. It’s definitely worth it to be buy new shoes and definitely worth it to get nonslips. We get a discount at Sketchers and their work line almost all fit in dress code!

Recently my dm is implementing our shoes be anything but canvas & non-slip so I got these slip ons from Skechers but with our discount I got them for like 30$

depends on your manager but I wear leather black converse ~ hopefully you get hired! :)

Definitely depends on your manager, plenty of our partners wear sneakers that have visible logos/not approved colors and the SM doesn't seem to care. That being said, non-slip is definitely necessary. Invest in a pair of good sturdy black work boots or sneakers; your feet will thank you when you're standing all day, and the rest of you will thank you when you don't totally eat it on a slippery floor.

depends on your manager. i wear vans or docs

They have to be black and slip resistant, which pretty much rules out canvas. I’ve always taken the opportunity to rock some badass black boots when I’m feeling saucy.

This is not at all true lmao. They don’t have to be black, they have to be in the color palette (but not white) and slip resistant is not a requirement, just a suggestion (but I highly recommend it).
