Do you guys consider Starbucks as your worse job? What do you hate about it and what do you like about it? I’m literally just overall curious how everyone feels about their job.. EVERYONE HAVE AN AMAZING DAY!

not even close to the worst.

Both. The actual tasks of the job, such as making drinks and customer connections are great. The other stuff- being understaffed. Low pay. Shit hours. Expected to go above and beyond for duties outside of my pay grade- SUCKS. I’m really considering going back to restaurant life.

I’m to the point that when my SSV/ASM/SM asks me to do extra stuff I just ignore them and don’t do it, or half ass it because I’m not getting paid for it. And I’m SICK of picking up slack from bad workers. I’m a hard worker and it gets taken advantage of.

The real reason I stay is the free stuff. And I’m not kidding.

This used to be the best job I’ve ever had. I enjoyed my job on such a level I couldn’t describe to people who’ve never worked there. The multitasking, mastering the drinks, connecting with customers, handling peak, working as a team, feeling like I belonged.

Now, it is the worst. Working less than a skeleton crew. Being expected to get all we used to plus more done, with less than half the amount of people. Being surrounded by angry customers, gross counters, and partners so exhausted we no longer have it in us to be who we used to be.

I hate that this job earned both titles. It’s almost worse for it to have been both, than just awful from the start. It breaks my heart.

I worked a “white collar” job that was WAY worst that Starbucks.

EVERYTHING you did had a metric. Your performance was daily, weekly, monthly scored. Management was so inept they didn’t know which way was up and micromanaged everything. You were literally a number. No one outside of your team knew you by name.

I spent 8 years working 1am-11am. I made minimum wage plus a $1 night bonus from 1am-5am. The work was grueling, the conditions were unsafe (extremely hot to the point of passing out several times). I worked with one other person. I was consistently expected to do duties outside of my pay grade (supervisory and managerial duties including payroll, scheduling, ordering etc). No benefits, no paid vacation or sick days, and I was only allowed to take 1 week unpaid vacation. So no, this isn't the worst I've had.

I’ve been with Starbucks for over 5 years and got hired right out of high school, so this is actually still my first job. Within that time though I’ve worked at 4 different stores and I definitely say whatever store you’re at can make or break your experience. I worked at some stores that were a lot more stressful than others and with many different managers, so it all depends on the environment of the store. Overall though I love working for Starbucks, it’s perfectly flexible for my school schedules and since I’m a supervisor I pretty much am guaranteed hours. I plan on staying with the company until I graduate college and start my actual career.

I worked at Paradise Bakery/Panera as my first job and my worst day at SBUX would be by far my best day at Panera. Wayyyy underpaid and no benefits to my knowledge. Garbage job.

I love my coworkers, especially the ones that show up for their shifts and don’t call out sick for a broken naiil and even more the ones that DO NOT want to keep being baristas until they die. That being said people are monsters, the karens the jessicas the complicated ones the rude ones the entitled ones are the reason I put my 2 weeks this Friday even more than the offensive pay we get for letting customers and managers walk all over us as they please because let’s be honest you can’t fix the fact people know starbucks lets customer have their way no matter what and then gives partners “perks” like headspace to fix the issues maybe customers and this job gives you, they break us to then give us the tape to put us back together, that’s messed up. Oh and also, I applied for this job so I could finish college to then find out they only do it for partners that are citizens so yeah it’s been the worst for that but the best for my friends that I made that I love with all my heart and hope that they get tf out of that job soon like me.

So it's definitely one of my best jobs but that isn't saying all THAT much
I used to work minimum wage jobs in nyc as a minor came to the Bux and became a shift in under a year (I'm upstate now for school)
The challenges vary tbh from the cultural shift and behavior modifications that come with it (that are somehow under the table expected of you) to the lack of coverage, compassion and support
Theres definitely ups and downs soo it depends on your situation me being 21 living alone without family it's a decent job especially for the benefits.
