Yikes... I’m super nervous. (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Kadylee
I’ve been trying to get a job at Starbucks for quite a few months now but all spots are usually full. I figured it would be best for me while in college...and I LOVE their coffee, so why not? 😌

I just got called for an interview on Wednesday and I’m SUPER nervous. I always suck at interviews... especially the “tell me about a time...” questions and paneled interviews. Anxiety gets the best of me and my mind goes blank. 😒

Any tips? Advice?

Thanks in advance 😘

As someone who works there now just be who you actually are because it make it so much easier for us partners to read you when you come in and when the hiring manager talks to you just be honest and direct

Don’t overthink it! Just take a breath & be yourself. Your SM is a person too, and I guarantee they’ll understand a bit of anxiety. Just be prepared to answer something along the lines of “why do you want to work for Starbucks” and examples of you engaging with customers/coworkers in the past.

My high school teacher would say “it also Never hurts to read the mission statements of Starbucks as a company and know some background on it going into an interview. Shows you care.” But idk if that really applies to Starbucks they tell you alllllll about themselves in the online trainings BUT my manager also asked me how much I knew about Starbucks and I missed a spot to show I cared there.

Idk, still got the job so

GOOD LUCK. You will ROCK this interview!!

I have anxiety issues ESPECIALLY when it comes to interviews, so here's a couple things that helped me thru it:
1. Google "Starbucks barista interview questions". If you're like me and prefer to over-prepare, this is a good way to do that. Glassdoor has some good content last time I checked.
2. Honestly? Just make shit up. Keep it believable of course, but the interviewer won't know any better and it likely won't come up again. For example, one of the interview questions I got was "tell me about a time you and another employee had a disagreement and how you resolved that" so I made up a story about how 'a barista was being snippy with me so I had a private conversation with him to politely ask what was wrong and after that everything was fine'.
Hope that helps a bit and good luck!!
