“I hate to be that person” (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by brl14912
Yesterday I had a customer mobile order a Venti Caramel Cloud Macchiato, they sent a coworker to pick it up as well as several other drinks. The girl comes in, grabs the drinks, and leaves. I then see her walking back holding the macchiato. She comes straight up to me at the bar and says “I hate to be that person, but this drink is pretty much just foam” and I said “yea, that’s pretty much what it is” and then spent 5 minutes explaining how it’s made only to have her reply “well it’s not for me and I didn’t order it. I just wanted to make sure you made my coworkers drink right”

And in that moment I felt a little sliver of myself die.

“I know it’s not your fault” continues to tear me a new one anyway

God I wish they would just get rid of the clouds, all they do is confuse people.

I could've sworn there was a weekly update for my north east US store that said they were planning on discontinuing it. I got so excited about not having to make it anymore. But that was months ago... and here we are, still confusing customers with it.

They were gone at my store in canada within like a week it felt. But that was hell week.

‘I hate to be that person’ THEN DON’T! It’s a choice you’re making. And tbh, this is pretty much daily interactions at Starbucks. It’s a domino effect of people yelling and taking their frustrations on each other and then Starbucks baristas just bear the grunts of it all.

I hate to be that person, but I think you mean "bear the brunt of it all."

Bruh one time I had a lady (a regular, unfortunately) complain to me because her iced caramel cloud was mostly foam and told me she wanted more coffee in it "like it usually does." In my best customer service voice, I said, "Yeah! So actually, the caramel cloud is supposed to-" and then she cut me off and raised her voice and said, "No, I'm in here every day, I know what it should look like! If you dont believe me that I'm in here every day, I can show you my credit card statements! Now will you please remake my drink!" I stared at her for a few moments, said, "Absolutely," and dropped her drink on the counter while I continued to make other drinks. Luckily my coworker, pure that she is, picked it up and made it because there was no way I was going to after that little interaction. The next few customers to pick up drinks were embarrassed because of how she had acted, and were extra nice when asking for something. For real tho, the cloud drinks are the bane of my starbucks experience

Did the lady accept the remake? I must know!

Customers say the darnedest things.

Yeah she did, and it looked exactly the same, lol.

What a cuntrag bitch. Getting off on power tripping on somebody who she knows will get in trouble if you say anything back. Management should ban customers like that. I quit Starbucks, but the employees shouldn’t have to put up with abuse from multiple people everyday while you’re slaving your ass off at a breakneck speed, and dealing with tons of bullshit all the while.

I’m just not the one to talk to like that. Thankfully we didn’t have to many rude customers, only ones that were kind of rude were just in an insane rush late to work or something, like that’s our fault (I’m guilty of having done it at McDonalds though when in a rush, being a bit rude, and then felt bad after working at Starbucks, and I don’t do it anymore. I learned from my mistakes... most don’t). My main issue was really my coworkers. My whole store was pretty much a bunch of Karens who somehow got hired at Starbucks. As one of the only men, working with them was extra hard. All the other girls from the other Starbucks knew how bad my coworkers at my store were, and they always felt super bad for me, and even made me free Frappuccino’s and egg bites when I would stop by.

my first rude customer when i was on bar was a women who ordered a iced caramel cloud. when i handed it to her she complained that it didn’t look like the photo on the menu board. i started to try explaining to her that it isn’t going to look like the photo they took because it’s staged product photography. she cut me off and told me to just remake it and that i should do my job right. so i remade it and it looked identical to the first one i made and it was hilarious to watch her pick it up while looking up at the menu photo and know there was nothing she could do.

We have a customer who orders a hot one every day upside down at 170 degrees and brings it back to every Starbucks in the district. EVERYDAY! Hello?!?! Of course it curdles when mixed! Chemical reaction. Enough said.

One of the the great truths in life, because always those statements are followed by “but”, but=behold the underlying truth. Because you are that person.

I had a door dash person freak out on me once, because she saw me put hot water in an americano. She thought I was being cheap by topping off a coffee with water.
Supadupastein 1 points 3y ago
I’d throw it in their face. Tell that idiot to mind their own fucking business.. Jeez.

Friend! I had a similar interaction.
Customer at register: I would like a small mocha and a small macchiato.
Me: cool (goes to make these drinks cuz it’s slow and we try to be helpful)
Customer: I’m I hate to be that person but this mocha is too heavy.
Me: did you want extra foam?
Customer: yes I like it very foamy
Me: do you want the macchiato foamy too?
Customer: just make that regular
Me: (makes it like asked)
Customer: um, this caramel macchiato is too heavy
Me: ....whut...?
